Booked online as visitors not hotel guests (table for 2) and they had an offer where you get a complimentary drink if you go on a Friday night so we selected that. When we arrived there was no mention of the complimentary drink however when we politely reminded them they gave us one each. You can chose from wine, beer or a soft drink which was good!
The restaurant was very clean, quiet and food arrived quickly. Staff were friendly and polite.
We ordered nachos topped with beef and cheese to share, a burger each and a large Pepsi max each. We’d already got half way through the nachos when we realised we’d be given the plain ones with cheese and not the ones we asked for however when we got the bill we’d only be charged for the normal ones which was good. The nachos felt as they had been deep fried and we didn’t feel as though they were worth £9.50.
The burger was tasty, although the bun was damp and cold as if it hadn’t been heated up properly. A very reasonable size portion of chips but I’m not sure if it was worth £16.50. I understand it is likely to be more expensive as it is part of the Celtic Hotel but the prices for what the food was is largely the reason we won’t be...
Read moreAwful and darn expensive for what you get. Considering it's owned by The Celtic Collection (Ty Hotels) I was expecting at least a bit more. Chicken wing starters were literally swimming in a sour lime hot sauce that ran off the plate! Mains was a very cheap tasting under seasoned burger with a limp excuse for a bun that actually makes McDonald's look good! A pint of Heineken is £6.25, Morretti is £6.50 and the cheapest bottle of wine (see picture) is £29.95, a small 125ml of wine was over £6. They automatically add 10% service charge and you MUST pay by card. No cash I had a small board waved at me that apparently says cards only. I refused to pay the service charge as not once did anyone ask if the food was OK, or would I like any sauces or anythng else (resturant virtually empty so not busy), I had to go to the bar and ask for replacement napkin after the chicken wings (I was covered in sauce and you're told to go to the toilets to clean your hands) and my table was dirty. The man was quite rude and abrupt when I demanded the charge was removed and I got a non serious "oh sorry about that" response to my complaints. Do yourself a favour and find a local pub to...
