we had 5 tables all up against the wall, if you wanted to go to the toilet or bar everyone had to get up and you had to squash through. I was driving so couldn't have alcohol but fancied a nice lager (non alcohol ) alas not to be, they do not serve I, 't they have been asked numerous times but have decided not to sell it', so if you don't like fizzy drinks and juice irritates you ... water it is then. Weird menu choices ?! you can have gammon with egg but not pineapple. very thin steak for a rump and quite dry, veg:- 1/4 carrot 2 mangetout and an excuse for a mushroom. batter on fish goujons like cement. don't know what they put in the carbonara apart from garlic ,desserts - bread n butter pudding very 'set' didn't try much else. so had the bill. could we have it separately? ' NO not here, here's the bill and a pen and the menu sort it out yourselves.(other places take individual payments at the till). Would we go again...

Booked for a party of 6. The booking was based on previous experiences albeit around ten years ago. The previous experiences we had were exceptional which made our decision to return. Unfortunately this visit did not meet our expectations. The Sunday dinner was very underwhelming, bland and of little imagination. The starter of homemade Welsh cawl was rather tasteless and again bland. The service was to match the food unfortunately. Having to ask for cutlery after our food was served and then waiting aged for it to arrive only to discover no spoons to eat the soup. Followed by a drinks order being taken and no drinks arriving. Again we had to ask for the drinks. The desert was nice but it's hard to mess up a desert. Utterly disappointed with our decision to make a return visit in the hope it was the same standard as years...

Visited The Butchers today for Sunday lunch in their outside Pod. Lisa the owner and Angel served us. The food was of a VERY high standard. Definitely worth the prices on their menu. Beautiful atmosphere , sunny day and anything we needed all we had to do was press the bell & we were greeted with a smile and nothing was too much for them. Highly recommend The Butchers, we have been for lunch there few times which was lovely, and now can highly recommend their Sunday lunch..the flavours in the food were gorgeous and the presentation 100% which is what you would find in a top class restaurant. Thank you Lisa & Angel for making our Sunday very special. We will...

First time here with my partner and j thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The ambiance of the place felt very welcoming as you'd expect in a Welsh establishment. With a roaring log fire and the chatter of the regulars it set the scene. The food was reasonably priced and the presentation was good for the food. The dish I ordered was as described and quite delicious. Fluffy soft and flaky white fish with gorgeous hand cut chips and mushy peas. Would definitely recommend for anyone especially for group bookings. You'll really enjoy your time there so get booking.

Foods gone down hill 3 of us ordered steak all burnt. Very disappointing when I told the staff they told me it was char grilled. Never have I had a steak like that there they have always been fine and not burnt or char grilled. Waiter then cleared the table and didn’t offer us any desserts or any more drinks. It’s like they wanted up gone as we spoke up about the food being burnt. Then I see the chef come out if the kitchen with a pint no wonder the food was brunt he was half cut cooking it. Avoid.

The Butchers used to be great. The last few visits have prompted me to rewrite my review. It seems like they are trading on their past reputation. We waited 40 minutes, in a half full restaurant to get dry meat, cold potatoes, rock hard Yorkshires and not enough gravy. The veg was fine and the serving staff were nice. There are other places nearby doing it right so I won't be back anytime soon.
