The Hobby Horse — Restaurant in Wales

I have visited this pub a few times, and after having a bad experience a few months ago ie, bad service, poor food. Decided to take a chance and try it again, I was very disappointed. There were seven of us and four didn't eat their food. Fish and chips - batter wasn’t cooked through and chips were cold, hickory chicken was basically chicken breast in a dish with thin barbecue sauce poured over it and again chips were uncooked in the middle, scampi was poor quality and chips cold again, I had lasagna with salad and garlic bread - the lasagna was still bubbling when I received it and salad consisted of less than a quarter of a tomato and one slice of cucumber and piece of lettuce and garlic bread, one slice about 6cms in diameter, not impressed. The lasagna burnt the roof of my mouth , I had a blister. The only meal that was any good was the omelette , but still couldn’t eat the chips served with it. My sister went here for a meal and highly recommended it to us so I booked here for myself, husband and my son for the first time, as soon as we walked through the door the staff were very friendly and welcoming and showed us to our table a proper cosy pub with proper pub food. we were sat in the lounge because they had a big party booked for the evening in the restaurant the lady told me this when I booked and because of the short notice booking by myself we couldn’t be sat in the restaurant, the lounge was very cosy and the atmosphere was very nice, lovely cosy pub, the food was absolutely beautiful and cooked to perfection. I ordered starters which was beautiful I orderd the Brie and bacon, my husband had the garlic creamy mushrooms and my son chicken Gougions, for our mains I had Chicken Dianne, my husband had lamb shank and my son had Rump steak all cooked beautifully and it was delicious, the staff couldn’t do enough for us I highly recommend this beautiful pub and I look forward to returning in the near future. My sister and her husband took me and my wife here for a meal I have to say the moment we walked through the door we were impressed. The pub atmosphere was amazing very chilled and relaxing and everyone was enjoying themselves. We went through the bar to the restaurant,it was immaculately clean and very spacious it the way it was laid out. The food was beautiful and excellent value for money. The staff were amazing very friendly and attentive and we enjoyed the bit of banter. It was more than obvious that they take great pride in what they deliver and by doing so create a pleasureable experience for everyone. It's one of the best places we have been and we are definitely going again,and I don't say that very often and I would highly recommend anyone to visit even if it's just for a drink.
