The New Inn had always been a great place to come for food, always used to be fresh high quality home cooked food, however, that opinion changed yesterday.
Came for a roast with my mum for a treat, I ordered beef and she ordered lamb (I do not eat lamb for personal reasons and haven't for over 10 years). When the food came out it was very lack lustre, roasties were barely roasted, some kind of half mashed carrot, peas, cabbage and two small baby potatoes - fine, all just mass boiled and no seasoning, felt like it had all been cooked a fair few hours earlier and just kept luke warm but thats just a hunch. The meat was all fat, could barely find any actual meat at all, so I reluctantly sent mine back. A lady came out and told me rather matter of factly that lamb is fatty, to which I told her I ordered beef and the waitress had said it was beef, she rushed off saying it wasn't beef and that was the problem before I could even express how problematic this was for me as again, I do not and have not eaten lamb for over 10 years, well until yesterday that is. No apology, just a plate bought back this time with beef that was near impossible to cut, and not even to mention that if it was actually lamb previously, and I am very doubtful that it was, it didn't taste like lamb which is another matter in itself. My mum couldnt eat hers at all. The table next to us also sent all of their food back, for reasons unknown to us, but I know its not us being fussy at least.
At the till we were asked if we enjoyed it, to which we raised our concerns, no apology, although the male server seemed to be a more appriciative of the feedback which was nice to feel heard by someome, so thank you to him.
We wanted to put this down to just being an off day, but unfortunately my mum, who has been a customer at the New Inn since she was a teenager (and would murder me if i mentioned how many years ago that was) has now said that she will not return, its really put her off and she left feeling more hungry than when we arrived. She kept apologising to me which was sad because it wasn't her fault and she had just wanted to go out for a nice roast dinner. Its a real shame as she used to really enjoy taking guests to...
Read moreAvoid during lock down! I'm going to give them some benefit of the doubt and say that perhaps in normal circumstances, the service they offer is at least satisfactory. However, I have left today feeling nothing short of disgusted. Having worked in both retail and catering myself for many years, I can safely say this was the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. I don't want to colour this review with too much personal opinion however I feel it is worth noting that this was the first time in over 6 months my family and I have managed to go out for a meal. And thus we were very much looking forward to it. I had booked a table with no problems and arrived promptly at 5pm for our table. We then proceeded to wait over 20 minutes with a 2 year old, without being offered a high chair, or even a drink. We then decided to ask if it would be possibly to order. A few minutes later we were afforded this luxury, and proceed to order our food. To our relief we finally had a drink in our hands 30 minutes after sitting down at our table. We then waited a further 45 minutes without so much as an acknowledgement, or offer of further refreshments. We could clearly see the staff were avoiding making eye contact so as to probably avoid taking any more drinks orders. At this point our 2 year old was getting very hungry, and after realising that another family that were already there before us were still waiting for their food we decided to leave. All in all we had 1 drink each in at least 1 hour and 15 minutes, and left without having had any food. I could understand perhaps if we hadn't booked a table and forced ourselves upon this establishment but quite frankly they should not have accepted any further bookings if they were already stretched far too thin as it was. Completely and utterly dissapointing service, will never go back. I would suggest to anyone else that they at least wait until everything has returned to normal as from what I've been led to believe the food is actually quite nice, although I'll never find that...
Read moreStaying in Dyserth for a few days, so obviously keen to try the local pubs. The New Inn was in walking distance and looked good. The staff were friendly enough, when you saw them….. Ordered drinks, starters and main courses at the bar. In all spent (as a couple) between £70-£80 that evening. My husband ordered nachos and I ordered pil pil prawns bruschetta to start and cod and moules for main with a side of chips. The starters arrived and between the waitress leaving to bring us cutlery - 20seconds, the waiter brought our main out too! So here we were with starters and main sat in front of us. The waiter saw the problem but still placed them down and then disappeared. In hindsight I should have said we’re not ready for mains but I was worried about them just sitting under a hot plate! So on to the pil pil prawns. I love and enjoy hot food, however, I could not finish this dish. It was like they had just poured hot sauce over it..smothered everything in pil pil sauce. No flavour just heat. Nachos were fine. Husbands cod was lovely and my moules were delicious and the sauce was super tasty. Ate a few cold chips (had been sat out while we ate our starters). I would have raised that the chips were cold and that the prawns weren’t nice but no one table checked us. Not one member of staff, despite walking past to serve other tables, asked if everything was ok. I worked in hospitality for nearly ten years so I understand things get busy but there were only about six tables eating at the time! It’s basics to table check… We hung around hoping to tell someone but we left with our plates still uncleared from the table. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, especially after the last couple of difficult years this industry has had. But pull your socks up New Inn. Nice place but could be so much better! Also, while you’re there, clean the Perspex in the pods! Looks like my toddler had been licking them after eating ice cream!!
