We had high expectations about this place as it is recently open and claims to have 5 stars. The bad experience started from the reception. I was handed the key of the lodge and the receptionist did not explain where are the facilities in the resort and other brief information. We reached the lodge and noticed that the level of cleanliness was bad. It was not vacuumed in the living and the bedrooms. We could easily notice the debris on the carpets and realised that they kind of rushed to open before a proper inspection of every lodge. In our en suite bathroom they did not even remove the plastic protection from the toilet seat. The shower cabin was not cleaned, dusty and paint was noticeble on the tiles. We wanted to vacuum and use some bathroom cleaning solutions but there were not any. Lack of bins, toilet brush, cleaning solutions, shower gel and shampoo. The kitchen was also lacking washing detergent, a bin, salt and pepper. We could find coffee and tea sachets, sugar and biscuits. There were also plates, cutlery, a can opener, microwave, toaster and kettle. The radiators were functional apart from the one from the kitchen. Another bad experience was with the toilet from the living which has flooded. We told the receptionist and we had no proper apologises from the manager. We were offered the possibility of moving in another lodge but we already decided to check out a day before and refused. We experienced the spa resort from the first day. The receptionist pointed us that the spa entrance is through the restaurant. We did not notice any sign directing to spa, but we finally realised that there are some stairs going down. We went there and also realised that we had to use our key lodge fob to enter. No-one explained that to us. We entered a corridor but again no sign directing us to the spa. After we have wondered around we kind of gave up and went up to the reception. This time the receptionist came with us but surprise she did not know where the spa is. We followed the same path, used our key fob as she did not have access, wondered around the corridor and finally found that the access is through the toilets. Of course we had to go up again as no one gave us towels. We finally managed to change and entered in the spa resort. The pool was nice not too big with a maximum depth of 1.54m The acces in the jacuzzi is from the pool but caution as the benches have rough edges and you can scratch yourself. It was warm in the building but the water was not heated. The saunas were functional and decent in size. The hydrotherapy was not functioning properly but no one bothered to fix it. The employees watching the pool were sad and we kind of understood why. They did not have a chair and forced to stay on their feet. Once in a while they instructed everyone to get out from the pool to verify the purity, temperature and release some substances inside. Overall we enjoyed the spa although they did not open the massage and gym. We have not tried the restaurant and cannot say much about the quality of food. We wanted to but my neice ordered a cocktail and she realised that the lady serving her had to read the instructions to prepare it. We decided to explore the surrounding area and we managed to see the waterfall which is only 10 minutes walking from the resort. There are lots of ways to explore Snowdonia and the cities around but we just wanted to relax and have a nice time at the spa. I forgot to mention that the receptionist said that a manager will call us to talk about the situation and the early check out. We were not called or emailed although I have emailed them and no one replied. We are not the kind of people to give bad reviews and that is why I emailed them first. Maybe they will organise themselves and the services will be...
Read moreNot the Peaceful Retreat I Expected||The Marian Resort & Spa looks attractive from the outside, with its chalet-style village that is especially pretty at night. However, the reality of staying here was disappointing.||Accommodation||The interior of the chalet felt rather basic and minimalistic—there was no table lamp, no coffee table, and the lounge lacked any sense of comfort. A musty smell lingered inside, and the rooms had very little natural light. Practical details were also overlooked, such as nowhere to place toiletries in the shower, and I even noticed electric wiring outside the cabin, which didn’t inspire confidence. Noise was another problem: heavy footsteps and banging doors from above disturbed the evenings and nights.||Dining||This was where the stay really fell short. Breakfast was chaotic, with no one clearly in charge. If you asked for something, you weren’t guaranteed to get it. For example, I had to ask several times before my gluten-free toast finally arrived, and even simple details like salt and pepper pots being filled were overlooked.||Dietary needs and intolerances are not well handled overall. A chocolate croissant was placed next to gluten-free pastries, making contamination almost certain. Items weren’t labelled, and staff seemed unsure how to advise on intolerances. This is a serious gap in service.||On top of this, healthy options were very limited. There were very few high-fibre choices, and many of the available items were loaded with sugar and fat—hardly what you’d expect from a spa resort that should be promoting wellness.||Evenings were slightly better organised, thanks to a maître d’ overseeing the dining. But the atmosphere was spoiled by very loud disco music coming from the bar area next door. With the doors left open, it carried straight into the restaurant and made dinner feel anything but relaxing.||The dining package is also confusing—the “£25 dinner” option is not a fixed menu but treated as a deposit against the bill, which doesn’t represent good value.||Atmosphere||The resort clearly attracts younger groups and parties, which brings with it a lively but often noisy environment. If you’re seeking a peaceful getaway, this may not be the right choice. The outside is undeniably impressive and gives the feel of a Swiss village, but the inside experience and running of the resort fall short of that promise.||Spa & Pool||I didn’t use these facilities, so I can’t comment.||Overall||While the chalet village looks appealing from the outside, the interior standards, lack of attention to dietary needs, limited healthy choices, breakfast disorganisation, loud evening music, and poor-value dining package meant the stay was not what I had hoped for. This resort might suit younger visitors looking for a lively break, but it’s not ideal for those wanting comfort, quiet, or good dietary support.||I would...
Read moreUnfortunately my experience started before my visit to the resort. I tried to ring the receptionists to get some information but no one ever answered, I did call a few times. I was staying for 3 nights on arriving I wanted to check if they had my booking for a meal at their restaurant. The receptionist was unable to tell me or locate anyone that could help. Had a meal at the sports bar and grill I had fish and chips at £19 it was not cheap. I think Wetherspoons would have done better food it was not pleasant. My partner had chicken wings for £8.00 the sum total of wings were 4. A bit pricey for what it was ! Got to the view restaurant unfortunately I could not give a review of the food as we suffered a mix up and poor service. We were shown to our table, no one took our drinks order. We attracted the attention of a waiter and asked for a cocktail menu but he did not return with one. We waited for a bit in the meantime a couple who came after us had drinks delivered to their table. Eventually someone came to our table we again had to ask if we could order drinks and provide us with the cocktail menu. Finally drinks were ordered and a manager had told us the soup of the day was spicy tomato so we went for that as a starter. We were waiting a long time for our drinks and then our starter came at the same time as our drinks. It would have been nice to have a drink before starting the meal. Unfortunately we were given a completely different soup to what we had ordered, it was parsnip soup not very pleasant so we asked what had happened to the one we ordered. We were just told by the manager that it was the chefs fault ? He apologised and we reordered a different starter. Again we were made to wait an unreasonable amount of time in that time the couple who had come after us were ready for their main after finishing their starter. That is when we decided to leave drinks remained untouched. We spoke to the manager apparently our starters were arriving then ! By that time we had had enough. I asked the manager why other people were served before us, he just said they had pre ordered meals ! On asking another member of staff this was for larger groups of people. Seems they have priority over others. I had planned to have an afternoon tea the next day but I cancelled this as I felt it was spoiled and their food is very overpriced and could not expect the service to be right. I would recommend people to eat out during their stay. Better value elsewhere and standard of service better. Because at the end of the day the lodges are not cheap and they bill themselves as the luxury end of the market. Food and service should also meet...
