We were staying in Borth over the bank holiday weekend (August 23). We hadn’t booked a Sunday lunch and we tried various other places but understandably they were fully booked because we were trying at the last minute. I rang the Railway Inn and explained our situation. The lady was most helpful and said she could squeeze us in. We arrived not long after to be seated immediately. We ordered 2 adult roast dinners and 2 children’s roast dinners. When the lady came to the table, she came with 2 large bowls of cauliflower cheese, 2 large bowls of roast potatoes, 2 large dishes of mixed vegetables, mint sauce, apple sauce and a big boat of gravy. Than came the meat. I have honestly never had so much meat on a roast in any pub. It was cooked to perfection and even my children who are not the greatest fans of a roast enjoyed every bit of it. Then afterwards the children had a choice of ice cream for desert. The staff were very friendly. A lovely atmosphere. We will definitely eat here again. But we will book well in...
Read moreVery very odd. Booked a table at the restaurant thinking it was in the pub but when we got there it was a separate restaurant at the back which in all honesty was a cheap an cheerful cafe. The menu was different to what it said online.
Lasagne was tasty in all fairness but the salad had grapes, apple and strawberries in it. Strawberry and lasagne juice!? No thank you!!
Staff were very abrupt and was shocked to see the same plastic menus handed from table to table and not even changed or even wiped down in these CoVid times. No hand sanitiser stations either.
Someone came through from the pub to take our drinks orders which you had to pay for separately to your food.
The meals were eaten and paid for in under an hour, seemed like they wanted a quick turnover though the table was booked for the std 2 hour time slot allowed
Just a very...
Read moreWe booked in to eat tonight for a family of 4. The food was incredible and very well priced. Nothing beats a freshly cooked meal. The service from the staff was great. They were friendly, welcoming and genuinely seem to be happy working there and meeting new people. They went out of their way to talk to my children and gave them a special treat when they finished their food. We were all so full that we couldn't fit in pudding. Fortunately they were able to offer this as takeaway... So we filled our boots. The pub is dog friendly which we loved as we are dog lovers. There was a dog from a local customer there who was very friendly. The restaurant staff saw the children's interest in this dog and very kindly offered to introduce them to the dog. The children loved this. My only quarm is that we don't live close enough to make...
