Tea for two and a scone shouldn't be this way. We entered, it isn't clear what to do or whether to order at counter or take a seat and then get served, there was just a jumble of people encountering the same predicament, and although it wasnt empty it wasn't crammed (nobody outside as UK summer is just bad again) and a few of the half a dozen staff noticed people but didn't acknowledge or offer to help. so I queued and then was eventually given some menus and told service would be at table if we're inside, OK.
So we got a table, which was not cleared, despite nobody sat at it when we took it. There were no other clear ones to choose. It wasn't cleared until our food was brought, but wasn't wiped either at that point so we had to wipe a little clear patch for ourselves, as servers disappeared fast.
The scone had been warmed up, microwaved maybe? And was about the smallest one I've seen, certainly not one of the ones displayed on the counter, or so it felt. Small cream, tiny jam, and optimistically two pats of butter...
It was nearly £9 for two teas and the scone, so not the best value.
Maybe as its a bistro we will try something else next time and at least we will "know" how ordering works. The lunch menu looked like good choice but did seem pricey for what was being brought out near to us, but I'll reserve that review for another visit. This score is based...
Read moreTerrible experience, drinks were lovely served quickly. Food for 3 ppl, couple of burgers, one plain (arrived with mayo, not plain), jacket potato, prawns and squid. Nothing too difficult! After 45 minutes of waiting I went and asked how much longer it would be, they checked and surprise it arrived 30 seconds later, but they must have just forgot us because the food was barely luke warm, the jacket potato was cold! We also ordered a woof sausage which was a few bits of really cold sausage in a ramekin dish which they had the audacity to charge £2.50 for! The lunch was just over £80. Chicken burger wasn't plain as requested, the rest was barely edible!. Awful experience, wouldn't recommend and most definitely won't go back! Expensive not...
Read moreOrdered cream tea. Scone fell apart as I picked it up. It had been heated up. Partner took it to counter to explain, very politely, that we didn't want it hot and it had collapsed. Counter staff girl explained she's told to heat them. Partner attempted to explain cream tea scones aren't normally hot as clotted cream will end up melting but it was obvious she was now upset. The next customer had the coffee pot slammed extra hard on the counter. Then the girl, after disappearing out back with another staff member, came back behind the counter and made some reference to 'people shouldn't tear a strip pit of people just because they're disabled' (I'm a stroke survivor in a wheelchair). I was horrified and couldn't wait to get...
