Just popped into the Ship Inn, passing through Fishguard on a walking weekend in North Pembs. What a special little place! The 270 year old pub is tiny with low beamed ceilings and is festooned with authentic eclectic clutter and cobwebs. We enjoyed a pint of Double Dragon over a game of cards in a patch of sunlight while a log fire in the corner kept the sea damp at bay. A perfect way to dip your toe into the charm and character of the area, bring cash and marvel as the original till appears in the form of a drawer secreted in the wooden paneling and your beer is served with true Welsh...

I've just had a brilliant evening here. We are on a boat anchored in the harbour and went ashore for a couple of quiet beers. We met an interesting group of locals who were exceptionally friendly and wound up having a lot more to drink than expected. Small place with lots of character. It's on a narrowed bit of main road with no pavement so take care getting to it. Be aware, they don't do food and they only take cash - bit old fashioned but that's the joy...

Small, quaint pub - the only pub I think in lower Fishguard. It's not open on some days (I think it was Monday). Very personal, intimate, its a watering hole for locals and everyone knows each other. You'll always see a dog in there and the bar lady was lovely. It's cash only which is a bit of a let down if unprepared and they don't serve food. Once you get past that and the array of crazy nicknacks cluttering the wall its very quirky, cosy,...

We popped in here for a little drink and waw. The staff are amazing and I absolutely loved the cosiness of the place. What makes a pub is the people who are there and I think the locals were so nice and friendly . We took in the dogs and everyone fussed them and the bar lady gave us a bowl of water and some dog treats. Now just around the corner the harbour looked amazing with the sun setting.

Fab traditional old pub in lower Fishguard - very cozy, busy & ambient atmosphere. Was on my own and brought a book. Usual beverages sold - alcohol/soft drinks - I bought a coffee. Free public carpark very near by. Popular with 4 legged friends too. *Main entrance to pub is right on the road passing through lower Fishguard (see pic), so please be aware of traffic.

Old fashioned ‘hole in the wall’ pub. Great ‘mine hosts’ and the customers are mostly visitors with dogs. No food but an easy place to start a conversation. Fascinating photos and memorabilia. Dogs get treats, people a great welcome. Don’t be put off by appearances.
