We stopped in here for an evening meal on the way back from holiday. We chose it as we saw it had a kids play area and we were keen to tire them (3.5yr old and 16m old) out a bit more before the long drive home. The place was just what we needed. Free parking around the corner and a few shops nearby. The Pirate-themed play area kept them amused while we waited for a table. It was not too big, not too little but bigger than you’d expect in a pub.
We were lucky to get the last table as walk ups. It was Saturday night a week before schools holidays and the place was very busy. If you can, you should try to call ahead and book. Staff were friendly, helpful and all working hard. Food was decent and the wait turned out to be shorter than we were told. We’d been at Colby Woodland Gardens before and the pub is a short drive from there. Would recommend and seemed a popular choice for kids birthdays. Good kids meals options, decent range of drinks including cocktails and mocktails.
Only negative was how hot it was in there, they could definitely do with some better air flow for the comfort of both...
Read moreWhat can I say food and service was amazing. We started with sticky BBQ pork bites with a homemade bbq sauce they were good wish I had one myself rather than having to share with the wife. Mains my wife had the sea bass with new potatoes and broccoli spears one of the best she's had. Myself I had the blu moo burger. Beef patti and blue cheese personally would say also one of the best I have had ! Desert was home made rocky road with white chocolate with pouring cream once again amazing. The portion sizes are definitely on the larger size of other restaurants we have been to ,no skimping here. Prices are around average but the quality of food is way above average. The smugglers has an outside seating area ample seating inside with views out to sea. They also have a children's play area. The whole place has a really nice feeling. This was also added to by the staff that were super helpful and friendly. We will definitely be going back to...
Read moreOur 3rd visit to the Smuggler's Bar & Grill and each visit has been a positive experience.
Always a friendly welcome. The staff, particularly the lads, are very helpful and have a friendly, upbeat attitude. The staff also interact with kids on occassion which is nice to see.
The meals have always been tasty, most recently being the southern fried spicy chicken burger. The homemade batter on the onion rings (and kids' chicken nuggets) is delicious (see uploaded image).
There is a lovely little children's play area inside so the kids are kept occupied whilst waiting for their meals. We have never had a more than 10min wait on our meals but we have always eaten between 12-12:30pm.
The alcoholic drinks are a bit pricey in my opinion but perhaps the going rate for most places these days.
Located right opposite the beach with outdoor seating, i would highly recommend the Smugglers...
