A welcome sight on our way to Taffs Well train station after our descent from Garth mountain. Friendly, welcoming staff, we enjoyed refreshments as we rested then decided on an early dinner. Great menu selection, just what you would hope for, classic pub food, served hot and fresh and at a great price. By the time we left there was a sizeable crowd and it seemed everyone knew each other, which shows it must be a favorite of the locals. Will definitely return when next in the area and we highly recommend.

Quick drink there after a wet and windy trek up garth mountain. Very accommodating even though they were booked up we got a table under shelter. Friendly pub and good service 😊👍

Lovely pub and nice staff, unfortunately the Sunday lunch was not great, food was cold, packet stuffing, frozen yorkies & rock hard roasties.

We were recommended the Taffs Well inn i’m well looking forward to a lovely Saturday night steak meal but unfortunately we are very disappointed.

We had a lovely warm welcome service was great and staff very attentive. We ordered the 10 ounce rump steak with peppercorn sauce which looked really nice but very small portions. We bought a nice bottle of red wine that’s when it began to go downhill. We asked for medium to well but when we cut into our steaks blood came out and was not cooked inside. The staff were very apologetic and took it away to cook the steak for a few more minutes then came back, cut into it again and still bloody in parts also the steak was poor quality and just full of gristle. I mentioned it to the Landlady’s son who is very accommodating and said sorry.I did say the meal was awful and we paid £43.50 and left feeling hungry and wished we had gone somewhere else because we were so disappointed after it was recommended to us. The Son did mention that they did not have a chef and his mum was doing the cooking and she was not professional and I perfectly understand that she was doing her best, but at the end of the day we left disappointed, didn’t have a good meal, that had to be returned twice and still not right. We paid £43.50 for a substandard meal. If we had known that there was no chef that would’ve been fine and we would’ve just gone for fish and chips something less complicated but we’re not told this. It’s a cosy friendly little pub and we were just really disappointed with the end result. These circumstances happen that is life but after complaining three times due to circumstances have no chef, undercooked food I understood these things happen and I only complain when necessary and do it in a quiet diplomatic manner. It would have been nice to be compensated in someway may be a free desserts a reduction in the cost of the meal that we did not enjoy it but unfortunately we were not offered anything just oh sorry about that.!! The staff were very pleasant and attentive but at the end of the day it put a dampener on our Saturday night meal that we were really looking forward to and...

Was a regular here a few years ago when the old owners had it but was in the army for 4 years only to come out permanently and it was a Saturday night. Thought id go and have a quick pint, see the locals, whats been happening etc.. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS PLACE....? Clearly the new owners haven't got a clue and in this day of age of running a pub, even if it was a decent one, you would be lucky for it to actually survive.... BUT THIS ONE, PUT PURE AND SIMPLE... ITS DISGUSTING!

It is one of those pubs that seem to attract a "certain" type of drinker.. The type of "drinker" that wouldn't be scared to throw a punch at you for accidently bumping him or something....

It has a terrible atmosphere, they don't even do evening meals no more so its basically all all day boozer.

I can clearly see why now all the locals In Taffs Well avoid this place like the plague.

Upon speaking to a lovely gent outside while having a quick ciggy, he said to me that this place has constant problems, fights, police called etc.

BOTTOM LINE... Bad atmosphere, edgy drinkers, pub owners seem to allow people to smoke cannabis cigarettes out in the smoking area around the back, clear drug use going on (while using the toilet, on top of the cubicle where you flush were 2 empty little bag sachets of what used to be white powder)... as well as filthy smelly toilets, a guy who works behind the bar with a big chip on his shoulder for women...

Avoid this place if you want to got to a pub, there's a better one up the road about 3 minutes walk away called Fagings Ale and Chop House, which is absolutely amazing. I'm surprised I actually got out of the Taffs...

Much anticipated visit was a big disappointment! Booked after seeing the pub advertised on Facebook. On arrival all was fine, the pub is small but cosy. We were shown to our table by the waitress who took our drinks orders, when she brought the drinks she informed us there would be about a 20min wait which was fine, so we ordered our Sunday lunch which I was really pleased to find lamb was on the menu! Unfortunately we were sat in a corner next to a large table with a few children who were really loud and being a low ceilinged room it was quite painful! We waited about an hour for our food which had not arrived and when my wife heard a waitress tell another table they had run out of cream for desserts, we decided to leave which was disappointing as the meals looked really nice! Seemed as if they were unable to cope with big tables, hopefully if we return it will be better as I said the food looked really good and the smell was nice! Ps waitress was very apologetic and did not charge...
