Okay so I can’t reply to manager but I can edit my reply for them to read. We went here on Friday, sat in a quiet area where the window doesn’t open & the doors have wooden chunks gouged out of them if that helps jog your recollection!. I am 100000% certain it was Cardiff gate and kept receipts. I too, would be horrified. I asked my partner and he verified I am recollecting the memory accurately and mushrooms in a cheese sauce are definitely in your starters menu, I am not mistaking them.
I’ve added random photos of their allergen menu tablet that was used just so they can see I was definitely there!!
Foul. Had never entertained the idea of Toby carvery until my partner wanted to go. I booked and we chose this restaurant because it had a 5 star food hygiene of recent assessment & I am extremely particular when it comes to cleanliness and hygienic practice. We entered, immediately sat down in a very run down corner with dirt, grease and blood all over the wall behind me. The leather seats were faded and had tears in. I was sat right opposite the kitchen and could clearly see everything going on in the carving deck. Instantly noticed 3 flies on the turkey (I am vegan so this did not bother me really as much as it should’ve my partner). It took TWO hours to have someone ask if we even just wanted a drink before starters. Hesitantly, we opened our menus which were caked in gravy, grease & god only knows what else. We ordered starters, my partner had cheesy garlic ciabatta which ended up being chopped up baguettes doused in garlic oil and sprinkled with herbs.. the waitress had put down garlic bread for my toddler also who couldn’t have anything else on the children’s starters I was undecided but opted for cheesy mushrooms on the premise they used a vegan cheese. Assured by the waitress it was definitely vegan, I ordered. 45 minutes later - If not longer starters were brought out, immediately the waitress puts the plate of ROCK HARD & BURNING hot garlic baguette in front of my toddler who understandably within her baby led weaning journey grabbed a hold of and burned herself. Immediately throwing down the baguette and bursting into tears. I tried to move the plate as she put it towards our toddler but it was already too late. The mushrooms, though reassured vegan.. were definitely 1 million percent NOT vegan. At this point my partners changing the baby (he’s just over a month and was sat in a soiled nappy for the best part of 30 minutes while we waited for them to “find a key”). During the time he was doing this, 2 flies had landed on his starter. I informed him immediately but he’s more relaxed than me and still ate it.. I also told him about the flies on the turkey, all of which he witnessed and was still happy to proceed. He upgraded £1.99 for a larger plate still dismissing the obvious problems.. until he starts eating his food and finds a dead fly in the gravy from the deck. The Yorkshire puddings were foul, the gravy congealed and cross contaminated. Cutlery mix matched and dirty. My glass was changed 3 times due to lipstick prints and black chunks in the ice.. the carpets were sticky and full of food, furniture stinking everywhere and food hygiene definitely not adhered to. The carrots were dried out, unpeeled and roughly chopped.. turning black!. The mashed potato was filled with chunks of peel and black specks, roasties were disgusting, cabbage mixed with celery and kale, no swede, no broccoli. Cauliflower was rock hard and unsuitable for any young child! Children’s squash was so processed it STAINED my daughter purple. I read reviews of dust on the carving deck etc however did not see this myself so maybe they’re trying to be cleaner but never again in my life would I come here again....

Read moreWe wnt to this location today and there was only one person taking orders at the bar and a queue formed very quickly at around 9.30 am. Our breakfast order was taken and we went and got a table and settled ourselves In. When we went to the food counter there was a 6 slice toaster that took an age to toast the bread and in doing so lots of people were again queued for this. Then on to the main Cooked breakfast when the three of us went to get food there was no hash browns and only two eggs that looked like they had been there for a while and we waited patiently to see if any more was brought out from the kitchen and nothing so we asked the staff member at the till if their wad more being brought to just be told yes there's more coming, but did not even ask or go to the kitchen to find out, at this point t the rest of our food on our plates was getting colder at this point there was about 7 other people who was then waiting for the same items eggs and hash browns at this point one family went and sat back at their table. At this point stage the three of us went on to our table with cold food and still waited for eggs and hashbrowns to be replenished. Only almost eaten all of the breakfast and thn they was brought out. To be honest almost 15 minutes to replenish eggs and hash browns I think this is unacceptable and by no means a good service. What I will say is that they need to have someone monitoring the food levels more frequently ie more staff or for the kitchen staff to be more alert tha5 there is paying customers waiting for more food to be replenished as some items will always run out quicker than others... ps I will mention that when they brought out the eggs only 6 appeared but there was possible about 9 or 10 people who were frequently checking to see if they had been replenished. All in all not a good service or...
