Ty-Risha Alehouse — Restaurant in Wales

The pub is lovely, there is a lovely outside play area with lots of tables which have plenty of room between so parents/carers can easily watch over the children play with a perfect view from every table, the play area is also completely enclosed so little munchkins can't escape!!! We visited on Saturday afternoon and it was just in time as lots of people arrived literally as we placed an order for food for 5 adults and 6 children!!! The food arrived a little staggered but never the less it was hot and fresh!!! Now for the not so good bit, unfortunately my meal had to be returned, not because it was cold, or the wrong meal but because of a rogue very long hair- HOWEVER!!!!! The meal was replaced including the half eaten poppadoms (I opted for the vegan curry, which was absolutely delicious 😋 and I devoured the lot- once it had been replaced) - no I wasn't expecting money back, free drinks or anything like that, just a new fresh meal, which came out about 20 minutes later, piping hot and hair free, and I devoured the lot!!! The manager came out and sincerely apologised, to which I was very thankful for doing, it was busy, with lots of other meals coming out to lots of other families, it was extremely hot weather and having worked as a waitress in a popular pub in Wenvoe many years back, I completely understand the pressures the chefs and waiting staff are all put under on weekends and particularly when the weather is amazing, so really hats off to them all, to simply replace my meal with no fuss, no bother and quickly too considering the conditions they were under last weekend!! This review is not by anyway to berate the pub or the food or the staff, this was really to point out that out of 12 meals, that were all delivered fresh, hot and delicious and all eaten without a crumb to spare for the sparrows, there was only one issue with 1 meal which was quickly changed.

I really don't see the point in leaving a slating review, perhaps if half the menu had run out or the staff were rude or ignorant (which this was not the case) it was just 1 meal. Everything else was just lovely and I have no reason to say anything bad. Inside the pub was clean, tidy with laid up tables, the toilets were clean (perhaps checks on loo roll !!?? As 2 of the toilets in the ladies had run out, I would have told staff, but they were knee deep with customers, so hopefully a member of staff will see this review and just make a mental note.

All in all we had a lovely couple of hours there and will most definitely return especially as its perfect for our children to burn off some energy and a lovely beer garden to sit in and enjoy and relax. It's also right next door to the shopping outlet McCarthur Glen in Bridgend, so after a hard day shopping, it's the perfect place to go to the quench one's thirst and refuel on energy with a meal. The menu isn't extensive, which I find much better as it caters for everyone, and with all those with different dietary requirements ( in our party we had a vegan and our son who has dairy and egg allergy and his meal was carefully checked) but it's simple and covers the basic type of meals that people would generally choose from.

So if you get the chance, ir are simply looking for a new place to try, go here and try it out, honestly, you won't be disappointed!!

We often come to the Ty Risha for birthday meals, date nights or even just drinks as its a local pub to us and we usually have a great experience but due to the service we received last night, I can’t say we will be quick to return again. The waitress (older lady with grey hair and glasses) was EXTREMELY rude to us, so much so we were left so shocked and angry with this we didn’t even finish or enjoy our food. I have never in my life experienced a waitress speak to me and my dad the way she did. As it was my brothers 17th, my father bought him a pint, as the law states you are allowed to drink an alcoholic beverage with a meal with a guardian, so we were under the impression that this was the case. This waitress came over with our starters and asked for ID. I explained the law I believed to be true and she said Marston’s are different. Which is fair enough, so me and my dad swapped our cokes with the my brothers pints. At this point she put our starters in front of me to hand out to the table. The waitress stood around watching us eating our food which is incredibly rude, when we had already moved the drinks away. As the young lad brought out main meal. She came over to the table again, shouting and being rude to us, after completely staring me down as she walked across the restaurant. I said we have moved the drinks so there’s no need for her to be staring at us and still being rude. I showed her the law on Google to clear up our misunderstanding and she said ‘check the Marston's love’ sarcastically and walked off. At this point we are so mortified at the service, we couldn’t enjoy our meal. I couldn’t find anything on the ‘Marston’s law’ online. Prior to this when we were ordering our food, the same waitress was kicking off saying how this place is a joke, how she’s the only person doing everything, f-ing and blinding and shouting behind the bar, as someone asked her to get ice from the cellar. Some of the customers at the bar were god smacked, the same as us. One even say ‘don’t worry, I’ll have my water without ice’ because I believe she made everyone feel very uncomfortable. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received last night, and this lady which I failed to catch her name, is seriously bad for business. After spending £85 (with the 30% off) , you really don’t expect to be treated the way we did. Considering the event at the bar, she clearly wasn’t haven’t a great day or she doesn’t like the job, but this should never be taken out on customers coming out to enjoy a birthday meal, which she completely ruined for us. We have had many a meal here, and for a change we thought we would spoil our selves and book a Christmas Day 3 course meal! We paid our deposit beginning of October and the remaining balance month before Christmas with our menu options! We arrived for 1.45 Christmas Day , was seated in the large room at the back sat down and was asked what drink we would like? Once that came we waited 30 mins for our starter of french onion soup ( was lovely) but sat there with my coat on as it was cold just couldn’t get warm as I also noticed a few had jackets/coats on! Once we ate our starter it took at least 10 mins before clearing away yet another 20 mins before receiving our main meal! When we had the main the beef was lovely and lean but everything else I’m afraid was Luke warm, gravy had jelly graduals on the bottom of the jug so obviously was synthetic gravy ! Roast potatoes were not crispy warmed up either in the microwave as they were cooked day before that’s how they tasted, but yet again took a while to clear away our plates and I was still feeling cold , felt no atmosphere, no Xmas music in the background, not even a complementary drink on arrival ie Buck’s Fizz or something! When we were brought the sweet it was the wrong order ...then brought the correct one, but was told once we finished we can help our selves to hot tea/coffee mince pies.....we went to make a coffee but there was no hot water in the urn , when we told the waitress she went to tell someone but on her return ( took a while) as she was bringing meals out she said someone will sort it out for you! We stood by the table for a good 7/8 mins waiting staff looking at us both STILL standing by the table! In the end I said come on I’m not waiting any more I will make one at home as I was so cold wanted to get something hot! We paid our drinks wasn’t even asked if we enjoyed, so that’s when I thought that’s fine I will just leave a review!
