The ‘Open House’ is a restaurant situated in a very lovely town in the UK. As you enter the place, a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of antique cut stones and the luxuries of modernity welcome you. Sitting in any table, you have a wonderful view of the workshop-like kitchen where you can see the chefs working. For those who do not book a table and are waiting, there is a cosy lounge with aged leather armchairs and pictures of polo players displayed on the walls the menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. I had the white asparagus accompanied by a mousseline sauce and poached eggs. They were exquisite. All the products were fresh and the dishes had the warmth of homemade food. The chefs take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. What a pity that the service does not accompany the high quality of the cooking. You can hardly get a smile out of the waiters. Despite the high price of the food and the not so attentive waiters´ service, I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavours. For this reason, I highly recommend going to the Open House...
Read moreFantastic food and great service. Definitely try the Nepalese options rather than opt for the 'traditional' English curries, as the flavours are fantastic and it's a nice change to the usual British Indian Restaurant. I had Sherpa Chicken as a main and was impressed with the flavours and the chicken was beautifully tender, to which I tried passing a piece over to my other half and the chicken fell off my fork in the process! The Chicken Choila starter (also on the Nepalese menu) was fantastic and married together flavour and spice in a delightful package. Service was great and as soon as we sat down, we were provided with water without the need to ask, before then having a drinks order in the case that you want soft drinks or alcohol. Again I was impressed by that we were offered free poppadoms as an appetizer while we wait. The two ladies that served us were fantastic and very accomodating; they made us feel very welcome and ensured that we enjoyed our food. We will be coming back...
Read moreGreat place to try Nepalese curries. Dine-in is better than take-away (for quality of meat, but at least it's non-Halal so no real complaints). My recommendation for the owner is to reduce the amount of salt; customers should never be able to taste salt in anything, especially the rice. Also, people told me the next day that I smelled strongly of garlic, so maybe offer a garlic-free option and I give 5 stars next time. Overall, I definitely recommend this restaurant for couples, families and business meetings. The young lady who works there is very nice, always takes great care to look after customers. Please give this restaurant your custom, there is nowhere as good as this...
