So we came here for the first time on a friend's recommendation and we are happy we did. We have struggled to find Indian cuisine restaurant that offers that little more than the average but this could be he one.
Pros: The establishment has a very lovely vibe and feel, much higher than you average pub. You can come here semi relaxed or fairly done up for the day or evening get out.
Table order service was a nice touch.
Outdoor space: is decent sized and very summer space.
The food: The medium mix grill is delicious and enough for two people if you add a side of some sort and a naan. The tikka and Sheesh kebab are cut above the rest.
Staff are friendly.
CONS: Food: the fries we ordered came out alittle cold. And you have to pay upfront which is just not the norm I'm used to and caught me off guard alittle.
Food & drink serving times: unfortunately you cannot eat food until after 2pm weekends and 4pm weekdays+ drinks. Would be ideal to serve at 12pm on weekends to ensure you can go for an early lunch.
But would recommend this place to all and any.
REVIEW UPDATE: As 1st Dec 2023. So we came here for a second time due to enjoying it so much and brought my mom for her birthday. Once again cannot fault the food, BUT they did not have the heating on much if at all so it was really cold and you were having to eat in coats. Which takes away from the whole "out for a family meal vibe" so unfortunately had to drop it by one star, as this would stop me returning until we hit...
Read moreI have had this awesome pub on my radar for a while and finally had the chance to visit.
We walked in via the back entrance a little lost to be honest and was ignored by members of staff to which we then went to the bar - not a great start.
The bar staff were really kind and helpful, we ordered some drinks and then mentioned we would like food and then made our way to a table of our choosing.
We looked at menus for around 15 mins and was hoping a staff member would come over to ask us for our order. I saw a member of staff a young man and asked him if he could take our order.
He nooded and then walked off...10 mins later a lady came and took our order - before the point about being busy is made it was not busy at all....
The starters were nice and we got a mixed grill with 2 sides of chilly chips which were great.
We wrapped up and a staff member asked if we would like the main course which was then served.
The main food which was Desi murgh and Butter chicken which were honestly not tasty at all. I know my desi food and I'm afraid it just did not taste fresh or as great as I expected.
Overall food taste and portions need improvement especially the portion size of the butter chicken which was in a small size dish and for £10 is honestly a joke...
As for the staff hit and miss but the customer service here needs huge improvement!
I have been to many other desi pubs in the area and can say honestly this visit was not a highly rated one for...
Read moreVisited here many times with family. It can get very busy in the evening but the staff will always do their best to seat you as quickly as possible. There is a bar area to get a drink while you wait and the drinks are very reasonably priced. For a group of 4 to 6 we tend to go for the medium mixed grill, 3 chicken tikka massala, 3 rice, 3 chips and 2 plain naan. There is usually plenty to go round despite the temptation to order more 'just in case. The mixed grill comes on a sizzling platter and is delicious, full of flavour and pleasantly spicy. The chicken tikka massala is, for me, phenomenal and I fell in love at first taste. It has a sweetness to it, it's quite mild but full of flavour and I would love to know how they make it. The rice, chips and naan are always hot, tasty and perfectly cooked. There may be a wait for food as they are so busy but it's worth it. You find a table, or wait for one to be free, then go up to the kitchen hatch to order. You can clearly see the food being cooked and all the staff busy at work. Once you've placed your order you are given a number to display on your table. The staff are always polite, and the atmosphere can be loud and lively but not intimidating. I would recommend going early if you want a quieter, slightly calmer experience. It probably isn't the place for a romantic secluded meal for two but it can accommodate from couples to larger groups but would recommend booking ahead if more...
