What a lovely place, I drove up, from Brighton and took my elderly mother here for Mother's Day Dinner. I was helped by the staff as my mother is in a wheelchair. They were polite, friendly and the roast Vegan dinner was amazing, So was the apple crumble, better than home cooked food. Incredible price, I had to check that I hadn't been undercharged. Even the local people were so friendly, holding doors open for us. Will definitely be coming back with the rest of the family, next time we are visiting. We came up yesterday and brought my mother here again, for dinner as it's her birthday today. We were not disappointed, the waitresses were exceptional, so friendly and helpful, unbelievable customer service. My partner said that I didn't realize that people like this existed any more. My mother loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The local people were incredible, holding doors open for my mother. Wow, I really can't praise them enough. Thank you.

Popped in for a refreshment as hadn't been here for a while and at about 1pm the place was dead and staff none existent. If I'm honest the place could do with a lick of paint and tidying of seats as dirty in places and seating areas ripped. Would I recommend? I'm not sure yet this place is in a prime location and will do great under the right management. If I'm honest I wouldn't eat eat there as it just don't seem clean enough or enough staff to sort things.

Revolting food, extremely expensive starters. A small metal dish of soggy Nacho's for £4.15. rip off. The pasta dish was so over cooked it could not hold its shape. It was a dish of mush. Avoid the chain. Second and last time since the re structure of the staff and training and it's just as bad. No real ale but bank's. You work hard and going out is a treat. Not here it isn't!

Would i recommend this venu to anyone - erm! Don't think so, used to visit here all the time pre covid and was our first outing for nearly 2 years but felt it would be a great place for us all to meet again - BAD CHOICE!! We booked a buffet weeks in advance but nothing was as promised. No buffet laid out, no tables/seats allocated for us, the staff were friendly but obviously inexperienced in running a venue of this size. My point of contact throughout was not available for the days prior to or at the date of our booking. The only contact was a call from another member of the bar staff who asked for the balance payment ...."to enable the chef to buy the food for our buffet"????

The 'buffet' was laid out on a small 2 person dining table in a corner and would have cost no more than £20. We were provided with small side plates which left something to be desired regarding cleanliness, no cuttlery, no condiments and a tub of coleslaw, still with its' lid on and a sliced red pepper were the only things resembling something like salad. The quiche and porkpie were cut so small it looked like a childrens tea party. It was more than evident that everything provided was just what they had left in their fridges and not the buffet we had arranged - nothing was as promised - the staff were eating behind the bar and then serving drinks without washing their hands and all in all I was so embarrassed that i had laid this on for my elderly relatives....

we sat at a table in an empty restaurant to have a member of staff come up and tell us that table was reserved - there was no sign on the table, which i pointed out and got the reply that he hadn't put it there yet! - so although the whole room was empty we were expected to move.

We ordered from the lunchtime menu, it arrived, to say it was a little disappointing in size with around 12 chips was an understatement, my gammon steak was smaller than the fried egg it hid below, and my friends hunters chicken was tiny - we agreed that we had ordered from the lunchtime menu and although disappointed the food was edible - we then went to order our desserts and were told that to get the lunch deal we should have ordered them at the same time as our mains, when we said why weren't we told this at the time we were surprised to get the response.......'we don't do that' - why not? so a dessert that was advertised as £2.50 ended up being £4.99 each - and the staff didn't even offer an apology.

Food was OK, service ok if you like your food plonked in front of you but customer service a big fat ZERO, - would we recommend - no,...

Regular and local customer here. Upon asking the landlord if we could order an ice cream to take outside for my lad, I was met with a rather perplexing refusal. The reason? Apparently, they weren't serving ice cream outside because they "didn't want to have to come and collect the bowl later." Let that sink in for a moment. This pub, perfectly happy for their staff to navigate the beer garden collecting numerous empty pint glasses – drew the line at a single, presumably much cleaner, ice cream bowl. The logic, or rather the lack thereof, was baffling. Were ice cream bowls somehow more cumbersome or hazardous to carry than glass? Did they spontaneously combust if left in the sun? Was lovely and sunny, not busy and I even offered to wait at the bar to collect the ice cream and bring it back when finished, as I had just done with my beer glasses... The landlord while polite, offered no further explanation, simply reiterating the house rule and if he allowed it the 'flood gates' would open and would have to allow it for all. Appears the new rule is.. No food service outside. Assume this is also news...
