Sultan Cottage — Restaurant in Walsall

Following the closure of their highly regarded 'sister restaurant' in Tipton we thought we would come back here. In part because we knew some of their staff had moved here. It's been a long time since we were last here and unsurprisingly in that time the decor has been refreshed, it is looking quite smart. Perhaps a few soft furnishings might be a good idea to absorb the sound and 'soften' the room. It's a very large restaurant and I wouldn't like to have to pay their gas bill. It's your typical Bangladeshi restaurant menu so know problem with knowing what you are going to get when you order. The sheekh kebab was great, I would have liked it a bit spicier but the wife would disagree. The mains were spot on for us and most unusually the wife managed to finish all of her dupiaza which tells you something. Nothing wrong with my chilli garlic bhuna but I wouldn't have minded if it had been drier. The sides were very good especially the sweet and fluffy garlic and coriander naan. The chips were OK but would have preferred them a bit crispier. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive throughout. Even more pleasant was the bill, prices are going up everywhere but this is possibly one of the best value restaurants we have been to for some time. Note that they weren't taking card payments on our visit. Obviously being able to take your own alcohol is always a bonus. Large car park...

Food was good,sadly poor service between courses. Bring your own alcohol as no license to serve any, but no soft drinks as they have there own. At fifteen minutes between starter ordered and twenty for main course. When asked for tap water cold, we did not receive a drink nor asked again until desert! Not happy with that.

They even managed to destroy a birthday cake, without a good enough appology this Friday night to the lady or party group.

Looks new and aparently clean though big cracks appear, to be honest can not see an improvement on 3 another inspection due in 2020? Would we eat hear again, yes probably but would like to see imrovement on service and waiting time here. I score places on cleanliness, service and quality of food. I went there last night and I am disabled as I can only walk 20yards with a 3 wheeler, it was a struggle to get in but once in they took us to a table and the staff was impeccable, the manager came out & explained they are waiting to have the disabled ramp &a hand rail finished off, the food was superb & they opened the front door and helped me out to the car. If I let them know when I go again they will open the fire escape door for easier accesss, no one has been as helpful as they they where at sultans, I couldn't have wished for better service anywhere else, thank...
