AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! -5 stars would be more appropriate!!
Arrived at reception and was asked by manager to take a seat as they had no tables. I informed him I had pre booked as I knew it would be busy so why had he given my table away? Whole point of pre booking is so you get a table isn’t it?
Anyway I let this go and decided I’ll wait. After 5 minutes I got talking to another family who were sat waiting and asked how long they had been waiting. They said over 30 mins and they had also pre booked? Absolute joke.
Another family then walked in and the manager asked them if they had pre booked - I have no idea why he asked them this question as he had given all his tables away and we were proof it didn’t matter if you pre booked anyway?
Keep in mind I have my family with me (party of 7) and I have already been quite patient considering it’s Mother’s Day, so after a while I asked how long he would take to set us a table. He then proceeded to question me on how I booked? I said via phone, why? He then in-front of everyone said no you didn’t, you did it online!! The audacity to try and call me a liar - so I pulled out my phone and showed him my call list (I didn’t have to). He then apologised. This was the manager of the establishment!! Absolute joke. Upon reflection - even though I proved I booked via phone, why did it matter to you whether I did phone or online as you gave all the tables away anyway???!!! Absolute joke.
I could sense he felt the heat as guests were walking in and straight out after being told their pre booked tables were given away. And several visits from staff members stating they had messed up the orders over and over again during my wait for my table.
My suggestions to you are maybe stick to your booking system instead of being greedy and giving all the tables away to anyone who walked in as all you saw was money. Offer customer service training to your waiting staff. Definitely take a course in customer services and possibly business management as you are hands down the worst restaurant manager I have encountered.
It’s a real shame as looking at your reviews it seem the chefs are actually knocking out some excellent dishes. Looks like the manager is letting the team down. If your looking for pointers or help on how to run a successful restaurant try below:
The night then was saved by another Indian eatery literally 10 mins away. I rang this restaurant and explained what had just happened at roti pani. They said come on down and we’ll take care of you. ‘Shimla peppers bar & restaurant’ in walsall town. Please see my review for this restaurant -...
Read moreWow! Sometimes you visit a previously unknown venue by chance and you discover an absolute gem! That's certainly the case with us and Roti Pani. I am Willenhall born and bred though have lived outside the area for 35 years.I remember the Dale House building well and the carvery we used as a child, so it has been a revelation to see the change in the surroundings coupled with what is now an excellent restaurant specialising in fantastic. Northern and Central Indian food. The team are hugely polite and engaging with a superb sense of service. The menu is broad without being overwhelming and easy to follow. The food is some of the best I have had in this area for a long time providing dishes that in no way resemble the ubiquitous Tandoori style that Is prevalent in the area. The difference "starts" with starters offering some classics though with a definite Roti Pani twist. The Golgappa are lovely which tonight we teamed up with tandoori mushrooms and indo-chinese in the forms of chilli fish, and chilli chicken. My wife chose chicken karahi and I ordered the Chefs Saag Paneer special with a.lovely light roti. The main courses were fantastic and great value. The team give you time to bring different courses in as you want them though service is so good that if time is tight then you can, order - eat - go quickly. Ah! You also need to pay which is another positive as Roti Pani is very, very reasonable. A very popular place so may be worth booking if you are going on the run up to or during the weekend, though doors open at 1600. If you live in the area and are lovers of Indian food then definitely go to Roti Pani. We have been twice in the last week and will be...
Read moreVery good service, the young lady who greeted us and served us for the rest of the evening was very attentive, polite and helpful, and so were the other staff. The food and waiting time were a disappointment. The Tikka Masala was very sweet, and the other dishes were rather bland, I would not call this authentic Indian food. Apparently according to the restaurant, the server explained that dishes that are spicy, although this did not happen, our server was a young girl who didn't know what most of the dishes consisted of when we asked her. The chilli paneer was excellent however and I thoroughly recommend it, although don't let the chilli is the name fool you, it is not spicy at all. The prices are quite high for such small portions, and the food took long while even though there were only 4 or 5 other people in the restaurant. As an Indian family, we have tried many Indian restaurants in the area, and the portions are smaller in this establishment. My father wanted the shrimp curry, but they said there is no seafood items left, we then tried to order dal, which they also said they don't have. They told us in order to get a bottle of wine, you have to order 4 starters and 4 main dishes, although our 2 main choices were not even available. We liked the chilli paneer so much and asked to meet halfway and order another portion as a main since we didn't get our first 2 choices, but we...
