I came here for a birthday meal, and unfortunately, it was completely ruined. I usually enjoy dining here, but this time was a massive letdown. I decided to try the new Christmas menu item, The Big Cheese Burger, and added bacon and extra onion rings. When the burger arrived, it was covered in freezing cold brie and stone-cold bacon. By the time I got to the burger itself, it was already cold too. When staff came over to ask how the meal was, I gave them a brutally honest response. Their explanation? They said they couldn’t melt the cheese or cook the bacon properly—they could only microwave it. That’s absolutely unacceptable. If I wanted a microwave meal, I’d have gone to Tesco. The staff offered to prepare a new meal, but they admitted it would be made the same way, and we didn’t have the time to wait for it anyway. So, my options were to eat a meal I wasn’t happy with or go hungry. I chose the latter—I’d rather go hungry than pay £15 for what felt like a poor excuse of a Christmas menu item, let alone a birthday meal. On top of that, the staff gave generic, scripted responses to my complaints, completely ignoring what I was actually saying. It felt like they weren’t interested in understanding or addressing the issue. All they could do was suggest I complain to head office, but we all know how little usually comes of that. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

I've noticed on numerous occasions members of staff just taking plates and glasses away but not cleaning the tables... Today i decided to wipe over ours with a baby wipe on arrival and this is the result... I have spoken to members of staff on more than one occasion about their cleanliness and hygiene, on one occasion I had to take the spray bottle from the member of staff to clean the table myself as she literally just flicked the cloth over our table when I asked for it to be cleaned, They're clearly don't care about hygiene, If this is what their tables are like, I dread to think what they're kitchen is like. I don't want to be sitting at a table where a child has probably been picking their nose and wiping it on the table, nor do I want my kids picking up germs. Absolutely disgusting. SORT IT OUT.

The place itself is lovely – I understand it used to be a cinema, which is such a shame it isn’t anymore. Unfortunately, the food is terrible, much like at other Wetherspoon locations: cheap meat that tastes as if it was cut and never washed, soggy mushrooms, rubbery eggs, and no brown bread available (“We only do white!” was the staff’s reply). The coffee is better than it used to be, and the service is welcoming, which I appreciated. I also like that the venue seems to support the younger community. The toilets are very clean, but the garden area and the outside tables look like they haven’t been cleaned for ages – which is especially disappointing in summertime. It was my first time going in, as I’ve usually avoided it – often after noon there are loads of drunk people at the door, which put me off.

What should have been a quiet family Sunday afternoon with my family celebrating a special birthday turned out to be a nightmare. A pub regular who bragged that he went there 7 days a week (I'll let you all make your own mind up about that) was extremely rude because my 11 year old Granddaughter thought his table was empty and put some used plates on his table as she presumed no one was sitting there while he was away from his table. When we realised we apologised but his behaviour was aggressive and completely unnecessary. When I pointed out that his behaviour was unacceptable it then escalated and the atmosphere became very hostile. I then requested assistance from staff members. The young girls behind the bar were extremely helpful and showed empathy about how disappointed I was. However, the manager on duty was the complete opposite. She approached our table but was unable to take control of the situation so then walked away and told us to 'sort it out ourselves'. WOW!!!! When I approached the bar and asked for her name and the complaints procedure she did not fail to disappoint again and completely over reacted because I was looking to see if she was wearing a name badge. Unprofessional, immature and completely unacceptable. The bar staff were amazing though and talked us through the complaints procedure. Such a shame that they were let down by their manager and forced to apologise on her behalf as she was by now out of sight. A complaint has been made but 24 hours later still no response. We will never set foot in this pub again. Wetherspoons - you failed to show any duty of care to your customers on this occasion. My advise would be to put more thought into choosing your Managers. This one had no clue how to de-escalate a volatile situation and left her staff to handle it. But a big thank you to the young lady who was left to...

Very disappointed here today breakfast ordered time on receipt was 11.32 it took 25mins for 2 traditional breakfast meals to come to table meal was cold, asked waitress if she could get it heated up for us, no apology just looked at us & took it away back in 2mins just put meals down said plates are hot I don't know where she got that idea from as I picked it up easily the bacon was still cold I told the girl this but she didn't offer any customer service what so ever, no salt in pot on our table one on next table was that damp it wouldn't come out, floor was very dirty with food debris may have been from a child, we did eat our meals more because we were both hungry after an early visit to New Cross hospital. We came here 2wks ago for lunch beef lasagne my dish of salad was warmer than my lasagne that was very dry meals seem to be left on the pass too long & was served a Pepsi in a glass that had lipstick round the edge, service & cleanliness seems to be going down lately tables not wiped over the cruets & sauces not clean the finer details that used to make wetherspoons special, after my 30 years in the catering trade I know how important it is to serve good meals for every customer at all times & a little customer service...
