Had a poor experience on our 1st visit 2 years ago but decided to try again as our daughter had her confirmation at the Church just up the road and it was handy. Booked a table about 2 weeks before (for 10-12 people) and double checked the booking one day before - but there was no booking when we got there but place was almost empty so we got our table. We should have left at that point in hindsight. Firstly, we couldn't get a tab because it was Saturday night (their explanation - as if it it made sense) so we had to pay for drinks and food separately up front. We arrived at 7pm and although there were only about 3 other people in there, they were telling us that food would take a while due to a broken waffle machine. Bear in mind that there were at least 5 staff working when you read the rest. Our food arrived in dribs and drabs and some of it was hopelessly wrong. They blamed the man taking the orders at the till but didn't offer to change the orders until we insisted. The replacements were also wrong. A group who arrived about 20 minutes after us, who we knew, got their food and left well before at least four of our party had been served. They didn't look happy as they left and I don't blame them. We had guests from London and Bristol and they had to leave before I got my sundae (some ice cream and brownie chunks in a glass, not a difficult dish to make) which took about an hour. As for the broken waffle machine, only one out of the 11 people at our table ordered a waffle. They gave us some 25% off vouchers for the next visit as an apology for the wait but there is fat chance of them getting a third visit. Then, my wife's friend had to wait for a bus, so they stayed behind for a coffee while we went home. After 30 minutes, they had to leave to catch the bus and the coffees still hadn't arrived. She queried it and was told that they told her about the 30 minute wait - they hadn't and kept lying that they had - and that the coffees were being done as they spoke. They had to leave or they would miss the bus for her friend. My wife then went back after seeing her friend off and asked for a refund but was told they had made the coffees and had to throw them away so there could be no refund. They also kept lying about my wife being told about the 30 minute wait. In summary, spent £75, got awful, awful service, had to deal with lying and incompetent staff and a long wait for service in a virtually empty shop. There were 11 people in this group who will...
Read moreI am immensely disappointed that I didn't get to spend my money here today.
After seeing the savory menu, I made plans with friends to have a light sunday brunch. It was empty and we sat for a bit to decide, even though it's basically a choice of 4 "filler" options on crepes, croissants, pancakes or waffles. When we went to the counter to place the order we were told there are no savory items being served. Since that was why we came, we turned to go, only to have the server backtrack. We were then told that SOME are available (more discussion revealed that they were out of avocado and smoked salmon - main ingredients for half of the savory menu).
Not only did they not inform us of this when we walked in, but also at this point, the worst part: the server offered to have a staff member run to the shop, if we wanted to wait... So it was well past opening time and if the supplies were to be restocked, it should happen prior to serving customers, but offering to do so at the point of sale?? Really??- yes, I could also walk to asda and get ingredients. Will you need me do the cooking, too?
They could have at least told us of their shortage when we arrived, or sent for more supplies earlier in the day... Not the most profitable or functional business practice. Very...
Read moreProbably the worst ordering experience I have ever had with any place I have ordered from, IN MY LIFE. Attempt to order yesterday for the dunking box, double cookie dough, milkshake, smoothie and mocktail. Everything is in the basket to order then they stop the dunking box and the cookie dough so can't order. Make an order at 17:15 on Uber eats today to come between 19:00 and 19:30 with the same order. At the 19:00 the order gets cancelled putting in that they have no double cookie dough (if this is pre ordered almost 2 hours in advance the shouldn't run out). Then go to reorder with just a normal cookie dough and after ordering it comes up cancelled again as they have run out of milk chocolate cookie dough. So go to ordered again with just a different cookie dough and they are now not doing the dunking box at all. This is no way to run a business if you can't keep up...
