The Nelson isn’t just a pub, it’s an experience, a meeting of spice, spirit, and soul. Tucked away in Warwick, this place surprised me in the best possible way. You walk in expecting a pint and maybe a packet of crisps, but what you get is a masterclass in Indian cuisine that rivals any high-end restaurant.
The food? Flawless. Fragrant curries that hit with depth and boldness, fresh naan straight from the tandoor, and starters that carry the unmistakable mark of homemade magic. Each dish feels like it was made with pride, seasoned with tradition, and served with care.
The beer selection is spot on — cold, crisp, and well-kept, with choices that pair perfectly with the heat and heart of the food. Whether you're a lager lover or partial to a bold ale, they’ve got you covered.
And then there’s the service. Genuine smiles, attentive without hovering, quick without rushing. You feel looked after here — like you’re a regular, even if it’s your first time through the door.
The Nelson Pub has mastered that rare balance: the warmth of a local with the punch of a top-tier kitchen. If you're in Warwick and want food with fire, beer with character, and service that remembers your name, this...
Read moreI understand that Nelson Pub is not a fine dining restaurant, and I’m fully aware of the difference between the two, as I myself come from a 5-star hotel industry background.
In my review, I clearly mentioned that I had called in advance to confirm if any arrangements could be made. A lady on the phone assured me that desserts would be “on the house.” However, not only were no desserts provided, but there wasn’t even a basic acknowledgment of that conversation during our visit.
Additionally, I would like some clarification regarding the bill. First, you provided a handwritten/unclear bill. Then, while we were still reviewing it and noticing the service charge added without prior consent, another staff member was rushing us to make the payment. That in itself was quite unprofessional.
Moreover, what justification can you offer for the incorrect takeaway order? Despite explicitly refusing the Chicken Chettinad, that’s exactly what was packed instead of the Kadhai Chicken we had ordered. And regarding the naan — it was clearly store-bought, not freshly made, which is unacceptable considering I paid £72 for this order.
I hope to receive a clear response addressing each of...

I visited today after seeing this place recommended by the Hum Tum in England YouTube channel, which praised their Indian cuisine. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype.
The place looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned since Covid. It’s honestly surprising to see so many glowing reviews. The food took 50 minutes to arrive. When we asked about the delay (45 minutes in), the lady attending to us said she was busy with two large tables. Fair enough — but that could’ve been mentioned upfront.
Drinks were below average. Just to clarify: Sprite with mint and a lemon slice is not a Virgin Mojito, and Sprite with red masala is not Shikanji. As for the Naans -they clearly weren’t fresh and felt like they came straight from a supermarket shelf. Paying £3 for that? Naan-sense.
We were given a handwritten paper bill-reminded me of back home in India. And to top it all off, they included a 10% service charge for what was frankly very poor service. No apology, no acknowledgment of the delay.
