Popped in for the first time a couple days back as me and my son were looking for a breakfast as linas place next door was closed.
First impression walking in we found it to be a little cold and sterile, very minimal. Almost like a dentists waiting room vibe.
We were greeted by a very smiley waitress who was pleasant.
The menu we found to be a bit much for breakfast options, all we had in mind was a full English style option, instead it’s Harissa sauces, pesto, chilli and black garlic drizzle etc etc. The closest thing we could find that we were looking for was a “bacon milk bun” what ever that is, but at £9 for a bacon bap, definitely not. That’s far too expensive.
Linas place 2 doors down do a full English, of 2 sausages, 2 bacon, egg, black pudding, beans, hash browns, plumb tomatoes and toast for £8.95, and it’s beautifully cooked. How can one bacon sandwich cost £9. If you’re totally stupid then it seems perfect to pay that much!
Instead we had two drinks, one single cup of tea (not a pot) and an organic “kola”from Serra leone!! Cost over £7. So I can only assume one cup of tea is costing around £3.50, madness, this was just a tea bag!
All in all the atmosphere was lacking spirit, and the food is WAY too expensive. perhaps we just aren’t as trendy as you need to be. But we are definitely not stupid enough to be ripped off that badly. Unfortunately we won’t be back.
In response to the owners poor show at being criticised about a business that I feel is ripping people off, I’d like to point out that the reason I’ve edited my review (old post wasn’t deleted, this is the original review, I’ve merely added to it) Is because I recently sat in linas place, and was blown away by how much you are changing for a bacon sandwich in comparison to an entire full English, I think it’s absolutely shocking!! To the point I felt I needed to make “my opinion” known in more detail.
What I think lets you down more so is your way of passive aggression and sarcasm towards customers who leave a negative review about pricing, to which there are a few. As a business I think your approach is wrong. I’d of thought you would revalue your pricing in line with local demographics. This isn’t London and I believe people are right to call out blatant rip off pricing.
If you feel my post could be reported, why don’t you do it? I haven’t put anything offensive, I stated facts. £9 bacon sandwich, against £8.95 entire full English two doors...
Read moreHad high expectations for this place. Unfortunately was greeted with a sense of estrangement possibly swayed to a judgemental view of our work attire. My colleague asked if he could amend his order slightly, which was bluntly shot down with a no as all items on the menu can't be changed to suit the Customers needs. Whilst waiting for the food to arrive, I noticed a customer trying to pay for his bill by cash. He was rudley told by what seemed to be the head waitress that cash is not accepted and it is card payment only, being mindful that it didn't display this anywhere within the Cafe. He was ordered to sit back down and that he would be dealt with shortly, eventually the waitress cam back over with a bit of paper assuming asking for his details ro pay by card at a later date. The customer refused this and suggested could he give the waitress the money and could she support by paying the with her card, which was once again bluntly refused. The customer had to reach out to another customer sat ajar to ask for support in the same way of payment , which the other customer poiltey accepted. This was most awkward for the customers of the Cafe at the time and all for a £9.00 bill!! Finally our food arrived , was a flavoraly experience could not fault the food but portion size is poor and a bit pricey. Could've justified the portion & price if there was a mitchelen star above the door. Will not be returning mainly due the poor & attitude of the head waitress and the treatment...
Read moreSo far, WSK serves the best coffee I have had in Warwick. Looks like they source quality beans so if you don’t want to drink terrible coffee (widely available in the UK…) this is a worthwhile stop. Not like most of the “coffee shops” you will find across the nation in 2025.
I’ve had several of their sourdough loaves, which do feel expensive relative to supermarket “equivalents”, but to be fair, they really aren’t equivalent: size and quality of the bread outweighs (sorry for the pun…) supermarket sourdough, and for me, is just about worth the extra quality at the price it is at, albeit perhaps towards the upper end of “worth it”.
The pastries look pretty awesome too; had an almond croissant which was great and there’s a good range.
There is something odd about the atmosphere… it feels slightly clinical. But I think this is down to personal taste, and when what you’re served is this good… one can care rather less about the atmosphere.
Certainly recommended....
