What a lovely pub. My wife and I decided to walk most of the pubs on the CAMRA Warwick trail but not in the order suggested. We started by parking in the Priory Park car park giving ourselves three hours to visit 4 pubs. After a quick cut across the park and directions from a friendly local we found our first destination. You can see from the outside that a lot of time has been spent making this pub, which is the base of the Slaughterhouse micro brewery, attractive. The inside is even better. As soon as you step through the door you get a warm welcome from the staff. Maintaining its āreal pubā fittings and fixtures while providing comfortable and well designed furniture the pub has a homely atmosphere. The smartly decorated walls are adorned with some lovely pictures. You can view the brewery through a window in the pleasant back room snug. I tried the 3.8% Slaughterhouse Alright, Alright, Alright and it was definitely Alright in fact it was very tasty. My wife who was the designated driver kept to 0% drinks. We could have happily stayed longer but we had more places to discover but we will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust to start I had high hopes for this place and said hopes didnāt materialise. With the recent works at Warwick train station happening that took me off the beaten track, I walked past this pub several times and decided I must try it out as itās a craft house. In fairness I came here looking for a craft experience in terms of lagers and didnāt receive that. 6 hand pulls and 4 draught ales is fine for some. However zero craft lagers is very disappointing. Iām a lager drinker and I was left with 3 very generic options - Amsel, Madri or Statopramen. I was hoping for a decent locally brewed lager option. I had to put up with a Madri. What was worse was the smell of stale bodily odour when I entered and that regular customers, who appeared intoxicated, shouted orders at the bar when I was being served. Sadly, the chap behind the bar, proceeded to serve the regular over me. The owners say they are a āproper pub run by proper peopleā. I really wish I had that experience as I was looking forward to drinking here. Very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLove this cosy little pub - extremely handy for a good lunch if you work at the hospital, but even better for after-work drinks, especially on a Friday when the atmosphere is generally buzzing. Great selection of real ales and even better being able to catch them at work brewing their own if you pop in during the day! There's a big glass window looking into their micro brewery which adds an extra special something when you're having a drink. Food is simple but well cooked, tasty and good value. Can't really ask for more from a local - I just wish it was more...
