we have gone here before, everything mostly stayed the same including the service, which was not to good. Eventhough today was a Saturday it wasn't very full, but it took over 45 min to get 2 masala dosas, when we asked to check for the orders we got greeted by a disgusted look by a waiter. When a part of my family got a meal I looked a bit sad as I hadn't got my food after a full hour of waiting, but instead of a smile I got greeted by a look of dispise and disgust, this was a big let down both times we had visited. When I got my food she gave the same look, now talking about the food, it was good and flavourful, however it went cold in a matter of minutes, parts were hard and parts were soggy, it felt as if it was cold and had been reheated. we went to order another dish(dahi puri) and my mom asked how much time it would take, the waitress looked offended and got mad and told us around 20 minutes. a bit after this another waitress came to our table and gave us a Mumbai thali, when we told her it wasn't ours she got mad and stormed off to the table behind us and gave a shocked look to them when they told her it wasn't hers. she dashed off and gave it to the right table after 5 minutes. The service was the biggest let down, food was good for a semi-decent crowded restaurant, and the atmosphere was not it, it was filled with attitude and rudeness, the decor was amazing but it did not match with the happy atmosphere that was supposed to be here. Any question we had, was shot back with I rude and disgusted face. anyways, would reccomed this place for a small treat alone, if u don't want to talk to people, have enough time to wait and not in a rush. Would not reccomend for a date put outing with friends. fyi:there r jo female toilets so there is a chance u will have to wait a while to go, there is male toilets tho. if u r a disabled or wheelchair user the disabled toilets emergency...
Read moreAvoid Crispy Dosa at Watford by any means necessary - absolute waste of time and money. We visited on 30 Oct 2021. The place was half empty but it took ages to seat us. Longer yet for any menus to arrive so my husband went to get them. Noticed the seat was torn and patched up with tape. The table was greasy but we wet-wiped it. Placed our order for 2 dosas, idly and mango lassi. The table next to us, a lovely mother and son out for lunch, had been left waiting 20 mins for their food. When it arrived, some sad looking dish and nothing else, their server asked if they wanted plates! Their dosas then arrived, missing several chutneys. Their food was clearly cold and the way it had all been served was just depressing. The first of our dosas then arrived. It was cold, the sambhar was missing, the tray was filthy with thumb prints and grease marks which I had to wipe, and the potato filling was laughable. Another 20 minutes and the server brings the wrong order to our table. Explained we were waiting on a dosa and idly. He had brought out 2 dosas. He then touches the dosas with his hands and asks which one we want. Disgusting. After waiting ages, my husband had to go up and ask for the bill as the remaining food still hadnt arrived. The bill was £20 and service charges had been added...ridiculous given the lack of service and the fact that we were just a party of 2 adults and a toddler. The lassi is £5...plasticy mango stuff that tasted vile. Dont know why anyone would charge £5 for that. The decor was tired, remnants from the previous restaurant still there. The food was mediocre. Utterly disappointing experience and theyve just opened. Shortest visit to a restaurant ever. Avoid avoid avoid. Wont be...
Read moreVery disappointed. I initially came to the Watford branch when the place opened. The service was appalling then. I thought we would give another chance 18 months later. However, our experience was even worse this time.
Firstly, the menus and glasses had food stuck to them. Following this, they had run out of potatoes and therefore several items were off the menu. Finally and worse of all one member of our party had her food arrive after everybody had finished, despite asking the waitress on at least 4 occasions in between. The manager in charge could only stand and smile saying ‘I’m sorry sir’. He was rather pathetic. I suspect they were not happy about me chasing up the food. Check out the photo of the food when it arrived. Appalling presentation of a rava does.
The food taste is fairly good but is expensive for what it is. However if they dont so something about the service and cleanliness, this place will lose customers quickly.
The way a restaurant is run is usually a reflection of the leadership given by the owner - unfortunately this does not leave a good impression on Jayakumar...
