Stopped off at the cafe in Farnham Park for a spot of brunch and to take my pooch in. He loves the welcome we get here - oh and the dog biscuits of course. Had a very tasty and filling lentil soup and warm crust bread followed by a cup of tea. A friend saw my picture and asked if it was vegan, can't recall if it was, however there was only the one type of soup available as a special. The cafe was very busy due to it being the Easter holidays, but the staff were coping admirably with the constant stream of people arriving for drinks, coffee, tea, cake and food. A lovely friendly place, with art for sale displayed on the walls, dogs very welcome. If you used to visit the cafe years back then you will notice a lot of changes - the decor has been smartened up, have added a bar and barista coffee machine, the golf shop has gone, the menu has changed (no chips on their own and can't get a mug of tea for £1, no pensioners fish and chips on Wednesdays). Is now more on a par with the national coffee shop chains price wise and style.
I did meet a partially sighted elderly gentleman who had made a special trip up to visit the cafe, taking a walk out on a beautiful day, but he did not stay to have anything because of the prices and there were no chips. I did feel a bit for him that he now felt excluded from what used to be a very inclusive and good value cafe and a destination for pensioners and those on a budget. So for this reason only, I have ...
Read moreHaven't been here for a while so not experienced the new cafe. Has been refurbished nicely and was fairly busy. Went with my three boys for lunch before a play in the park. Menu okay, not loads of choice. The sausage bap my eldest had was great, as was my tuna melt toastie. Younger boys had a kids sandwich with crisps combo. Sandwiches were nice but I would say the accompanying crisps not ideal for little ones. Kettle chip style brittle crisps which my 2 year old choked on briefly! My feedback would be to serve more age appropriate crisps with a kids menu choice... pomme bears or similar. Overall food was good. Bit of a wait but they were quite busy. The young guy that served us could've cracked a smile... not the happiest of welcomes! Also a step stool in the loos for kids to reach the sinks...

Downsides - this gets weird.
Wiped the table down as was feeding my baby while we ate, the wipes used were coming away brown so I guess the cleanliness needs improving.
Now I'm really not that precious - but the worst part about eating here was that there was some kind of problem in the toilet, which multiple staff kept coming in and out of talking about how awful it was, how disgusting it was, quite close to our table. Multiple staff, multiple times. One guy came out of the toilets waving a plunger, telling his colleague that he had to deal with it. WHILE WE ARE SAT THERE TRYING TO EAT. Pretty gross when trying to eat your food. Won't...
