My friend and I usually visits restaurants and places and we aimed to be fair in leaving a review, I will discuss the positive and negative feedbacks. This restaurant is located in a place where it could only be reached by car, it's quite easy to find with the help of Google Map. The car park is spacious it could probably fit a minimum of 30 cars plus there is an overflow car park outside. The ambience is something that you won't see in Aldershot, something cozy, the interior designer was successful in the artistry. The place could easily captivate Farnham residents. It is clean and a place to be comfortable. Not so many choices for breakfast. It's a bit dry as shown on the photos, I asked the waiter why the eggs were so yellow, was it a duck egg? I like the peppermint tea, it was not a disappointment. Maybe asking how 'toasted' the bread will be helpful, I should've told the waiter it should not be too toasted. I like the hot beans though. It took sometime for the food to arrive considering the time was not busy. The staff were smiling. From where I sat, I could see the garbage bin as it has a clear view of the kitchen (maybe that could be hidden away from the eyes of the guest?). A bin is not a good thing to watch whilst eating. More inter-action to the guests would be helpful. A genuine inter-action, not the 'rush' type would definitely build better relationship with the guest which will be help in a word of mouth marketing. The waiter was on the spot in asking what sauces we like. The Wi-Fi was not helpful on that day for some reasons so please have a look. I have to mention that we will go back for the sweet potato chips. The burger had enough meat, the bread could be better. Check the knife carefully and you will see what I mean (see photo). Generous on the thickness of the tissue. The purpose of this review is to identify the areas that could be improved and keep the team with high spirits on the positive observations. We'll be back for lunch or an afternoon tea. On leaving the area, It was raining heavily and as it was an open area from the restaurant to the car park, you'll get wet, an umbrella would be helpful IF Palm House is really serious with customer service. A couple of them would show attention to detail and concern about the customers (it's just me but small little details makes the brand...
Read moreWe visited The Palm House for a belated Mother’s Day afternoon tea and were very clear when booking that a gluten-free option would be needed. This was even confirmed again by phone a few days before our visit, so we had every reason to expect something thoughtful and comparable to the standard offering.
Unfortunately, what was provided as a gluten-free afternoon tea was incredibly disappointing, a flapjack and a couple of brownies. That’s not an afternoon tea by any stretch, especially when the rest of our party were served a lovely selection including macaroons, red velvet cake, eclairs, and fruit tarts. There was absolutely no effort to offer a balanced or equivalent alternative.
To make matters worse, we were charged an extra £3 for the gluten-free option, bringing the total to £25.50, despite no mention of any additional cost at any stage of booking or confirmation. When we raised this with staff, we were told the items had to be bought in, hence the extra charge. But this explanation doesn't hold up, if anything, the reduced offering should mean a lower price, not higher.
While the additional charge was removed after we complained, as someone with coeliac disease, I expect more thought and care, especially when dietary needs are communicated in advance. Sadly, The Palm House fell short. Would not recommend for gluten free...
Read moreMy family have been many times to the Palm house for different occasions and always lived it. However, my daughters recently booked to take their nana for a 90th birthday treat. They booked for an afternoon tea and the day before, rang to see if they could have a pod . This was all confirmed and the assistant assured the girls that even though the pods cost £100 , with a couple more drinks they would be close enough. On arriving, they were told it was too early for afternoon tea, even though this had been booked AND that there wasn’t a pod ……even though they were empty! My eldest daughter agreed to just ordering from the lunch menu, but insisted on a pod . She was told to go and choose one which they did. They each had lunch, coffees, some ice cream etc, and the bill came to £77 . My youngest daughter went to pay and was told she would still have to pay £100. She tried to explain what they had been told the day before , but the assistant was not very helpful. My daughter asked if they could have some slices of cake to take away to make up the bill and was told no. A bottle of wine was suggested, but the bill was then £107! So they were charged £30 for a bottle of wine! Sadly, this spoilt the whole experience for them...
