Heathfield Tandoori — Restaurant in Wealden

Now I don’t normally write reviews having previously managed in hospitality but this couldn’t go unsaid. We stopped here on the way home needing to find somewhere to eat with our 4 year old. It seemed very quiet on entry with some customers at the rear of the restaurant. When we asked if we could have a table for three they seemed confused by us having our 4 year old daughter with us. We ordered some poppadoms to start which tasted like they had been made a day or so ago. Not crunchy, just sort of soft. The dips and salad pots that came with them also seemed old, the onions etc slightly off coloured. Anyway, the starters came, onion bhajis. These had a strange taste to them but more concerning was that they arrived immediately, only slightly warm on the outside but like the centre of the sun on the inside, microwaved. We didn’t eat them and they were collected. Now to their credit when they asked why we hadn’t eaten we said they weren’t very nice our waiter proceeded to apologise and give us our naan bread free of charge, we didn’t ask and weren’t expecting it so that was a nice touch. However he did say we were busy yesterday when they were made and maybe that was why… so not fresh. Now when the mains came, a Tikka Masala, Korma, Bombay potatoes and Charna Masala these were largely tasteless. The Charna Masala was very dry and again seemed like it had been made days ago. The garlic naan we ordered came absolutely dripping in garlic butter, it had to been turned upside down to drain and in-fact we had to ask for tissue to soak it up a bit. Indian is perhaps our favourite takeaway and meal out but we all just gave up in the end, paid our bill and left. Really...

Awful... First time tonight my partner decided to eat from here.. so ordered online and said we would pay cash on delivery .. food turns up delivery driver has no change so we are told to call the shop and pay by card . I call the shop for the worker to not understand a thing I am saying and hangs up the phone . Then I get another call for my card number for them to write down the wrong digits .. I then get another call as obviously card declined so I regave them my bank card details . I asked if it was all OK to be told I'm checking then hang up the phone !!!! ... I also questioned why we are paying a £2 delivery charge when it clearly states online you spend over £20 for a free delivery .. but they charged anyway . I'm not going to argue over £2 i dont have the energy 🤣. So honestly I would avoid this place the food was oily and just not nice anyway...

Honestly the worst service ever. Wouldn’t even give one star. Ordered at 6:08 waited one hour and nothing, I thought I would ring up to check where it is and the incredibly rude member of staff said there online ordering had been hacked and there was nothing he can do and said call back tomorrow. He said you can place an order now but it will take 2 hours, so I didn’t. Extremely worried with card detail I was panicking. 8:18 the food arrived so we refused the delivery as we had to make something instead. Rung back up and said about this issue and the guy put the phone down, many calls later saying there was nothing wrong and out right lies about hacking, finding it impossible to get a refund from this rude man. I won’t stop until I get it back as this is completely unbelievable that they would lie about hacking and taking my money.
