Hop Yard — Restaurant in Wealden

After coming here in the evening a few times for some drinks we came here for dinner and had quite possibly the worst meal out of ours lives. 1st off the pizza we ordered arrived cold, we then waiting 30 minutes for the rest of our food to arrive. My burger looked like a findus grill steak from the 80s and the garnish of tomato, red onion and pickle looked like it had been sitting in the kitchen for a week, the kids fish and chips didn’t come with any sort of peas and fish was the size of a fish finger, my wife’s Vege burger was just a mushroom again with the week old garnish. I would have walked out if we hadn’t already waited so long and needed to feed the kids something. And to top it the portions were so small we all had to eat something else when we got home. A complete and utter waste of our time and money. Java and Jazz which serves Pizza round the corner is so much better it’s a joke go...

This place, popular amount young families and middle class couples, has served us mediocrily before, but this evening warranted a proper review. After having a beer with my partner, we decided to order some pizza (£24 plus sauces at 50p each) as we were outside beside the oven. We waited and waited for food, it got dark, we got cold, and after an hour of no service I went to see where it was. I was then handed 2 pizzas by the chef and told the waiters would take too long to serve the food but they would arrive with the dips. When I had served myself and my partner the pizzas we found them to be under done and cold, though they tasted ok and we were so hungry by then that we had to eat something. We finished up and our dips never arrived. R.i.p over priced bbq sauce and garlic mayo. Though the hop yard is an okay place to drink, I would not recommend it for food unless you want it cold and...

I waa told the burgers were fantastic so ordered one.. Shocked that a burger alone was £11.. Thought they'd be large and somehow special. I ordered chips too.. Triple cooked. This was tonight btw. The chips were lovely. My side of garlic mayo was forgotten. My request for vinegar needed asking twice. The burger was small and tasted of nothing but bitter burnt flavour.. Overcooked. Nasty quality meat. My bun was totally hollow at the top. Dry and not good at all and very expensive. I and my friend told the lady serving it wasn't good at all but she wasn't bothered... I was very hungry and tired and struggle walking anyway so didn't go up to complain straight away. Told guys at bar my disappointment to no avail. Sad as my friend said the burgers used to be amazing. The card machine has sticky all over it and I had a sour end of barrel pint to start with so not great. Atmosphere and...
