★☆☆☆☆ Disappointing first impression Pulled into Forest Row around 10 p.m., exhausted and hungry after a long drive. I glanced at the sign outside and—through tired eyes—read it as “Indian Italian,” which actually made us more curious to try it. Unfortunately, the welcome ended at the door. The moment we stepped in, staff looked visibly irritated, barely said hello, and told us the kitchen was “basically closed” even though the posted hours said open until 11. No offer of a quick takeaway, no suggestion of what was still available—just an impatient shrug and a pointed look back at the door. After that frosty reception we decided to take our appetite elsewhere. I can’t comment on the food, but hospitality is half the experience, and a simple smile or apology would have gone a long way

Roochi Indian restaurant is in the beautiful setting of Forrest Row and inside the restaurant was just as perfect with a front section that opens completely up connecting you to the outside. Service is impeccable, friendly and professional they really want to ensure you have a good experience. Food is fresh and so flavoursome with dishes that you will recognise but have little Roochi signature twists. Don't ask what the ingredients are though as that is a closely guarded secret! My wife has coeliac disease, so gluten intolerant and the restaurant accommodated this with ease, so be assured you can eat there with confidence. Roochie Indian Restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

What an amazing restaurant, as soon as I walked in I was greeted with a very warm welcome by 3 members of staff, all extremely polite and friendly throughout the evening. The food I have to say was amazing the very best in Indian cuisine. I highly recommend this place the best Indian I’ve ever eaten! The interior of this restaurant was superb small beautiful details and the place was extremely clean. Great views and open balcony leave the place feeling really warm and cosy. I will be back pretty fast. Thank you so much 😊

Probably had the worst experience in my entire life here. I’m a rather fair patient and honest person who gives people the benefit of the doubt but I’m not over exaggerating on this experience at all. I was in town visiting a friend, I’m from Canada myself. She worked most nights so I decided to go try Roochi as i love Indian food and heard good things. I arrived at 5:30, as a party of one. It was well before the dinner rush and I was the only one in there with the exception of another 2 person table. I was seated and left with a menu. I asked to see the wine list and the waiter said sure, he brought it to me and promptly said ‘we need this table back as soon as possible’. Obviously looking around I wasn’t sure why, I was in the corner by myself and the restaurant was empty. Even if dinner rush started at 7:30 that still leaves 2 hours. I was shocked at how rude this was and meant to feel like they didn’t even want me there. Maybe if I was a table I’d two but that shouldn’t make a difference, maybe because I was a single woman as well who knows. I told the server ‘so you want me to rush through my meal?’ He said yes and that he needs the table back. Then I got up and said forget I’m leaving and that this is not the way to treat customers. The manager came over and didn’t really apologize but just said this waiter didn’t understand what he’s staying which is ridiculous. At that point no way I was spending my money here. Learn some manners and appreciate the fact that people are coming to your restaurant as a compliment to you and shouldn’t feel belittled the minute they sit down. I went to Khans around the corner and they were delightful, left...

Have been using roochi for a few months now, more out of convenience than anything else.

The food is hit or miss. Most of the time it has been luke warm and the chicken on occasions has been very chewy.

The staff are incredibly obnoxious and not at all polite. This has caused me to consider on a number of times whether I should actually just drive a little further to collect from elsewhere. However my experience Saturday night has ensured I will never use this restaurant again.

I made a collection order and was told 40 mins (they stated this time despite knowing without saying they were having issues with their ‘system’ - another word for this is GREED)

When I arrived it was a scene of chaos. 15+ people waiting and one member of staff dismissing everyone’s questions. Some people had been in there waiting for over an hour. On the desk were numerous order receipts scattered about . A member of staff who was serving in house customers was barging his way past waiting customers in quite the strop.

I was in the shop for an hour at which time I was not acknowledged once. The manager I assume it was, was not interested in resolving the issue.

Eventually with breakfast fast approaching I decided to leave the restaurant so I had time to eat before bedtime. (Luckily had not pre paid)

Never have I been somewhere that customers are treated with such contempt. Staff here are rude. They care only about how much money they can make- not customer satisfaction.

One to...

Last night a friend and I visited Roochi. I have been there many times before and had great service and good food. Unfortunately it turns out that one of the previous waiters has been promoted to Manager and I found out, much to my surprise that he has zero customer service skills. Perhaps his recent promotion has gone to his head and he thinks he can speak to customers in an obnoxious and rude manner if he feels like it. On arrival, he had an altercation with me about which seat I chose to sit at on the table that had been reserved for us and insisted that I sit in the corner seat. There were 4 seats at the table but he didn't want me to sit in two of them and I didn't want to sit in the cramped corner seat. The other waiters who observed this altercation looked fittingly embarrassed. He said that those were the rules and that if we didn't like them that we could leave. He was very impolite. I did point out to him that I was a customer but it didn't make any difference. Feeling very unwelcome after such a hostile reception, we decided to leave and did. Needless to say, we won't be going back there any time soon and certainly not while that man is manager. I have never been spoken to rudely or intimidatingly at any restaurant before in my life and we had not done or said anything to provoke such a response. He does not have the temperament to be manager of any establishment. To be avoided...
