I can't think of any particular reason to want to go to Yelverton.....it's a strange place. One row of shops, a busy roundabout in close proximity. Full of cars parking and buses. But hang on! There is the Game Larder. What a super little cafe come delicatessen come takeaway for all the locals....and more. Fresh pulled pork in baps,, warming soups, bacon baps, burgers, pasties, game pies, unique alcoholic tipples, fresh bread and jars of chutneys and tins of exotic foodery. And coffee! I ride up here on my bike from Plympton and if I have sufficient puff left, a quick whizz around Burrator reservoir. This cafe really is a delight. Yelverton is the gateway to Dartmoor with Tavistock, Princetown and Postbridge not far away. And of course the Plymbridge cycle path and Drakes cycle path.

I recently had the opportunity to visit "The Larder" in Yelverton, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt like I was entering a cozy and comfortable establishment. The food at "The Larder" was simply outstanding. The menu offers a wide range of options, with something to suit every palate. Whether I was in the mood for a hearty meal or a light snack, there was always something delicious to tempt my taste buds. The ingredients were fresh, and the flavors were well balanced. Each dish was carefully prepared and beautifully plated, making it a pleasure to indulge in.

A gem in this parade of village shops. It offers a bit of everything from English breakfast, pies, pastys, batista style coffee to cakes and pastries, fine preserves and biscuits. They've got the lot. Very welcoming and friendly service.

Had the take away Sunday roast as I wanted something hot to eat in between visiting patients (I'm a community physiotherapist), rather than just a pasty. I was blown away by the quality of it. I had the regular portion (you can choose small) and the ratio meat/vegetables/gravy is just perfect. The beef (you can have also pork) was deliciously tender and very tasty and the vegetables were crunchy and well prepared, non of that mushy re heated veg you sometimes get in other places. The only thing I'd mention is that the container is too flimsy for the heaviness of the portion and with the hot gravy soon became too soggy to hold with my hand, had to use the paper bag under it for some firmness. Overall a great surprise as I didn't expect it to be as good and...
