I usually love Greggs, but unfortunately I've had nothing but bad experiences using this one.
The drive thru is never properly staffed and they often ignore the drive thru for long periods of time even if there is no one queing inside. My friend actually had to lean out the car and knock on the drive thru window just to be served, even though there was a member of staff stood there who could quite obviously see us and no other customers.
The breakfast rolls/baguettes are always dry (need buttering properly) and there's been quite a few occasions they've got my order mixed up by providing the wrong sauce or meat (sausage instead of bacon etc). They recently served my young nephew burnt pizza, to the point it was practically inedible. We then returned it and they were very dismissive and got quite angry at us wanting an 8 year not to have to eat charred pizza (it was literally black on the bottom!).
The staff are very rude. Apart from one young lady who is always smiley and polite, the male staff (especially the young chap with dark hair) can be very sarcastic, snappy and just rude. The manager, if there is one, does not seem to be reprimanding staff for their behaviour as they have been getting worse. The young blonde lady has apologised to me in the past on behalf of her other colleagues, but they seem to even treat her badly and there seems to be a real toxic atmosphere in there.
I've been before at 9am only to find they have no hot food, not a single item available including sausage rolls! I asked why this was the case (thinking maybe the ovens were broken) but the young guy told me he "didn't need to tell me that" and that they simply would not be selling any hot food for the rest of the day... I went back the next day and same thing. They are lazy and rarely ever cook any hot food, so what is the point.
I'm sorry to leave a bad review, I hate to do it. But please don't waste your time or money going here to get treated poorly by staff just for food that's not prepared to the usual...

The branch appears to be understaffed, which significantly impacts service delivery. A limited number of employees are seen rushing to manage tasks, often resulting in them coming across as rude to customers. For example, on several occasions, orders were hastily placed on the counter without any interaction, and there was a noticeable lack of customer engagement. Additionally, a female staff member seemed inconvenienced when taking orders, which further detracts from the customer experience.
During my most recent visit, I used the drive-thru service at approximately 11:15 AM. Unfortunately, the male employee taking orders did not communicate verbally, instead responding with grunts and non-verbal cues. This level of service is disappointing, especially when compared to the consistently well-stocked and courteous service I have encountered at other Greggs locations.
I would suggest that a manager from Greggs visit the Carterton branch as a customer to observe firsthand the issues that are leading to numerous negative reviews. Addressing these concerns is crucial for maintaining the high standards associated with the Greggs brand.
Apologies for having to leave such...
Read moreThere is one worker who works here. Looks like a male in his mid 20’s. He usually wears a uniform but today his was in a black and blue chequered shirt. I don’t think I’ve ever met or seen anyone ruder. He always looks like he’s in a rush and makes you feel extremely uncomfortable. He huffs and puffs and speaks to you quite horribly. I saw him today speak to one of his members of staff quite horribly for making a small mistake with one of the labels. Seems like quite a nasty person with absolutely no patience and no customer service skills. I’m almost certain if you’ve been into the Carterton Greggs more than a couple times you know who I’m on about. Makes me so angry to see a person in hospitality act and treat guests and staff...
