We have just been into the Windrush pub on the Burford road in Witney for a drink. The bar was empty apart from an unaccompanied child watching children’s programmes on a mobile with the noise turned up very loudly and a barmaid behind the bar. The last time we went into this pub the child sitting on the mobile phone was there then. Last time I had Sauvignon blanc which wasn’t wonderful but at least drinkable so I decided to have a Pinot Grigio hoping this would be better. My husband bought a pint and a large glass of Pinot Grigio. I took the first sip and decided the wine must be off as it was quite disgusting. I offered the glass to my husband who took a sip and agreed the wine was off. My husband took it up to the bar and complained. The barmaid Emma said it was a new bottle and she had just opened it. I told her the wine was so bad I couldn’t drink it. She told me she couldn’t give me free glass of wine. I explained it wasn’t a free glass of wine as I had paid for a large glass of wine and couldn’t drink the one given. She then told me she couldn’t give me a glass of another wine as she would be a glass of wine down on the stock take and she couldn’t pour it back in the bottle. I replied OF COURSE SHE COULDN’T POUR IT BACK IN THE BOTTLE! I was quite taken aback at what was being said. She told me she had only been there two days and didn’t know what to do. I proposed she call someone who could tell her what to do. She said she couldn’t as the managers had gone out and she was the only one there. I then asked if she was joking. What on earth was going on? I left the glass of wine on the bar and, quite shaken, went to sit down next to my husband who finished his pint. Emma then said she could call someone if I wanted her to, after telling me she couldn’t call anyone. I told her not to bother, as I would be writing a review, as I am now. As wine drinkers we pay a lot of money for wine, which I don’t mind, as long as the wine is of a reasonable quality. Both the wine and the service were incredibly poor and unacceptable. I am now nearly £7 down and really cross. I gave Emma every opportunity to put the situation right and the answers I got back belonged in the 1970’s. REALLY? I would give this pub no...

I visited today with a group of friends, we booked in advance and when we were shown to the table there was clearly not enough room for everyone. Once they sorted this (by giving us 3 tables apart) things went downhill.

1 took so long for drinks ordered to arrive i honestly thought they were brewing the drinks themselves.

2 we ordered food me and one of my friends ordered steak, when asked how we would like it cooked we both said still mooing (you know the kind of steak a good vet could bring back to life) when it arrived i could have used it to re sole my shoes. The waitress blamed the menu and said because of the food we had ordered it all comes oy 1 way. WHY ASK HOW WE WANT IT COOKED THEN?

3 two of our group were completely dropped from the food order and had to wait ages for theirs to show up. The waitress did drop the price of both their cokes from the bill. I'm not sure that was good enough.

4 when the bill came i just accepted the price didn't think to much of it. Lesson learned my wife had a JD & coke. I was charged for a JD @ £4.50 and then a pint of coke @ 3.00 so £7.50 for 1 drink. £43.00 for 2 meals and 2 drinks.

This place must be loosing customers and money. I wouldn't go again not when a buyer and pint from Wetherspoons is less that £10.00. A shocking meal out i would say they couldn't organise a P##s up...

I have been going to this pub since I was little and to say my last 2 visits today and 2 weeks ago been bit unsuccessful. 2 weeks ago had a baby shower for my nice even though my sister asked the day before could she come early and set up was told yes that's no problem to find when we got there she been waiting for hour to set up to be told by the manger quiet rude saying she can't give the table hour early to set up as she could used that table for other customers and have turned away customers I get her point but she didn't need to be so rude. then today for an engagement party for not enough table as 1 broke to be given 2 tables from outside that were soaking wet and a bar table the food was amazing service was slow all in all won't be back for a little while Continue so I rang the pub today to try out my point across first all I spoke to Amanda and couldn't get a word in of why I wrote this then spoke to the manger to basically be be shouted at and told how I should think about how I've made them feel how about I wouldn't written this if things were perfect EVERYONE is allowed there opinion and are allowed to post on social media after this conversation I will Not be going back THERE IS 2 SIDES TO EVERY STORY and this is my piintof view others from the event may...

Having arrived in Minster Lovell on a Monday late afternoon, we discovered that most pubs don't serve food on Mondays, however, a quick Google search found The Windrush in, 4 miles away did. As the rain had passed, we decided to walk the hour there, hoping for a tasty well earned meal at the end of it. On arriving at the pub somewhat sweating from the walk (we're not usually so energetic!), we were told that the chef was off sick and there was no food available 😢. That's why I have only given 1 star for food, I'm sure it would have been lovely had it been available. The pub itself looked nice and the barman was friendly. There were only a couple of other people there so it was quiet, hence the low score for atmosphere. We did get a couple of bar snacks and a drink before calling a taxi back to our accommodation and ordering a takeaway!

A bit of a late review but still worthy! We, as a group of friends, organise an annual camping trip over the Easter weekend and this year (due to horrid weather) we decided to try and get a nice lunch booked somewhere local. It was always going to be tricky with 8 adults, 9 kids & 2 dogs, but the staff at The Windrush were brilliant from the first phone call. They were happy to move furniture around to accommodate us all and put on a fab Sunday Roast. All the staff were attentive and friendly. They were so lovely with our children and didn’t rush us at all. We had a lovely visit and would recommend to others.

Our first visit to the Windrush Inn with our family who live locally. Delightful to see that this establishment takes food and customer service seriously. Friendly, attentive and efficient staff. All requests were handled in a professional manner. Quality of food was excellent. When you order a simple dish such as chicken wings and it comes out as it did here at the Windrush Inn it makes your whole lunch experience so much more pleasant. Because you can tell that whoever is in the kitchen as the head chef has actually good knowledge of food. We'll definitely eat here again.
