My partner and I dinned here last Saturday evening. We had one night in Bury St Edmunds and fancied an Indian meal. We goggled Indian restaurants in the area and came up with the Valley Connection, it was just around the corner from where we were staying and was reviewed well. When we arrived it was busy and had a buzzy atmosphere, starters we good. When the main meal arrived the Tarka Dhal was cold and had congealed to what looked like cold tapioca plus there was no Tarka! The main dishes came on flat ceramic plates, the food wasn’t placed on a food warming tray so was warm before we’d started eating them. We managed to call a server, who offered to replace the dhal, when it arrived the other food was almost cold and wasn’t very appetising. My meal was a Naga Lamb dish that was advertised on the menu as “tender lamb” - it was far from that and was nuclear red – why? Later on a server asked whether everything was okay with the meal, I replied no, he just walked off. We’d had enough, we asked twice from two different servers for the bill, we ended up walking to the bar where we commented on the poor food and service, they offered a 10% discount off the bill, we didn’t want an argument, we just want to leave. If restaurants can’t server hot food that’s delivered to how its described on the menu then they shouldn’t be...
Read moreShocked and appalled at this restaurants attitude towards food allergies! My partner has a serious nut allergy, we are always extra cautious with this to the point where I specifically called up to ask whether she could eat certain dishes (specifically butter chicken which she has had before here). I was informed by the manager that this dish is absolutely fine to eat, but he would double check and call back with any problems. Not hearing anything we turned up tonight and ordered the butter chicken, my partner as always informed the server that she has a nut allergy... We were then told that the dinner does actually include nuts, despite the menu (which clearly shows the allergens) stating it was nut free. I questioned this with the waiter and he stated that the dinner now actually does include nuts on the chicken itself, in response to asking why the allergen information was incorrect on the menu, he responded shockingly with "yes we should probably update that". Absolutely shocking, embarrassing and most of all, completely unsafe. What kind of establishment provides incorrect allergen information?!...
Read moreI ordered online got my reference number and awaiting email confirmation which never came. I rang the restaurant to ask if they had received my order, they said yes it was ready so I went to collect immediately. I got to the restaurant at 16.50 for them to say they did not open til 17.00hrs, I said I was due to collect at 16.42 they said I would have to wait 30mins. as I waited I was offered a free drink which I accepted. When I got home the curry containers were only half full - bearing in mind they cost over £12 per curry! Saying that the food was nice, but what a total rip off!!! Word of advice - sort your website out, if you do not open till 17.00hrs it shouldn’t say you open at 16.00hrs! And say if your only providing half portions… barely enough sauce to...
