Divino Italian Restaurant Wigan — Restaurant in Wigan

The experience we had at this restaurant this evening was terrible. When we arrived we were asked to sit at the bar and wait for a table after reserving a table for 7.00pm. After placing our drinks order, I had to ask for a different glass due to the big chip in the side. We was shown to our table about 20 minutes later than the table was booked for, the table was next to the main doors where people came in and out of the building which was very drafty, we asked for a different table which the manager kindly said he would do once some people had left. When we sat down we had to wait once again to be given a menu and the service was very slow. The starters arrived and cannot complain about this (garlic and cheese bread). We had to ask for drinks and sat with empty glasses. For our main dish we all ordered chicken with a sauce. When my daughter took her first mouthful she said she had ordered chicken but it tasted like turkey. The chicken was not a chicken breast but slices of chicken. It tasted like it was plastic, cheap, with fatty bits and was covered in a watery sauce. It was similar to Asda Essentials sliced chicken. This was very disappointing because it was one of the more expensive meals on the menu. Everyone left their meal. We waited again for a considerable time for someone to come and clear the plates but no member of staff came. After catching a member of staffs eye, I asked for the bill, but to no avail the bill did not come and we had to go to the till, leaving the plates on the table. We spoke to a member of staff who got the manager regarding the issue. I explained we were not happy with our meal and told him about the chicken, he said a previous customer had asked for sliced chicken and the chef cut fresh chicken for customers meal. This was not fresh chicken and was pre packed cooked cheap chicken. The manager asked what he could do to help and offered us a sweet but we wanted to pay and leave. The manager explained he would sort out the problem. When he returned he said he would deduct the price of our drinks from our bill to which was a couple of alcoholic drinks and juice with tap water. We do dine out a lot and have been to some lovely Italian restaurants, but I have to say this is the worst one we have visited and is no comparison to others I could name in the area. Disappointed really. Iv been here 3 times. First 2 times absolutely fantastic couldn’t wait to return. But today was very poor… the quality of the food was alright no issues but wasn’t as tasty as previous occasions. Staff were polite but looked rather uninterested and unhappy. Not very attentive like previous occasions. The thing that topped it off for us was the fact that during the meal there was a birthday party next to us (not that it’s an issue in itself!) but there was a man saying VERY inappropriate words the restaurant could hear and just genuinely rude as well. You would expect the staff to step in and explain that it’s not okay. But not a batter of an eyelid. Not really impressed on spending just under £70 on this experience and if I do return I don’t think it’s going to be very soon. I really hope that this changes. Seen this place MUCH better in...

Unsure if I got the wrong items but I've heard this restaurant is meant to be nice. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy my experience. Can't complain about the service, very friendly, attentive and managed to sit two of us down despite not booking. My garlic stuffed mushrooms were disappointing, they were dry, it wasn't like a cheese bake which I just thought it would come like as I know a few Italian restaurants do it like that. The bruschetta was said to be ok, but lacked oomph. The pizza again were ok but lacked that wow factor that makes them stand out from other Italians.

I didn't enjoy my experience here but would like to give the restaurant a second chance and perhaps order dishes from the specials...
