When this place opened near the market it was amazing, how things change. During covid I ordered afternoon tea which was abysmal for the price I paid, I did let them know and they apologised etc. I vowed I'd never go again. Today I thought I'd try them again whilst they are in The Grand Arcade, wish I hadn't. Ordered a tuna toastie which did look lovely until I discovered a black piece of something that looked like tree bark. I called a staff member over who apologised and said it looked like it must've fell from the toastie machine, however I explained it was actually mixed in the tuna. She apologised and offered to make me another which I declined. I then opened the other half of the toastie to find a tiny piece of lettuce in there.. Good job I don't have allergies. It was left and they didn't charge me for my coffee. Will I give them a third chance......NO!!!! I saw after that they only score 3 on the hygiene rating. No excuse. I worked in a 5 star kitchen for 17yrs and there is no excuse for serving bad food. My 1 star is for the friendly staff. *I shall edit my post seeing as I can't reply to your response. I'm far from slandering your establishment and it was more than just a piece of lettuce I found in my toastie, if you re read you will see I mentioned in my review that I found something else. I'm not hiding behind a keyboard as I did mention this to a member of staff so had you also been there I would've brought it up with you. I haven't slandered your place I have given an honest review!!!! As I said and you may also remember I had nothing but praise for you when you first opened and I actually over paid for food we had received. Standards should never slip. As for a business and supporting a family, I too support a family so my hard earn money should be spent on food that I'm not having to leave. Remember it's a review and you as a business have no need to be rude when I am posting my honest opinion on food I...
Read moreThe breakfast was great, good produce used, tasty, filling and reasonable value for money. The only thing that let it down was the glass sauce bottles that have been refilled with cheaper sauce. Not HP in HP bottle, not heinz ketchup in Heinz bottle. Plastic squeeze bottles are much easier to use than glass and genuine sauce would be better. I couldn’t get the ketchup to come out even using a knife into the bottle. Banging the base of the upturned bottle it eventually it sploshed out too much all at once all over my breakfast splashed off the plate on to cup, the table and onto my daughter who was sat opposite. Clothes stained and a mess to clean up before I could start eating. My daughter did not like the type of rubbery cheese used on her cheese sandwich so ate just the bread. I understood her complaint after looking and tasting the cheese myself. Table service was great and staff were great and helpful. We were not asked if everything was ok with the food at table or paying at the till or I would have raised the dislike of the cheese and sauce bottle problem. Great little game for children regarding sweeties and the sweeties prize. My daughter liked doing it and entertained her for a bit and colouring. Overall good experience easy fix to make improvements for 5 star review. I will be...
Read moreI was looking forward to eating her but was really disappointed. We had a jacket potato with the salad. It said it should have a coleslaw as well but didn't. In any case it was completely unseasoned and the salad was not entirely fresh so did not enjoy it. My son had Sausage and mash and while he seemed to enjoy the Sausage, the mash looked old and microwaved and he didn't eat it. We did also have a burger and that was nice although the fries were greasy. PS. Loved the cappuccino!
The service was acceptable, but we were never asked how the food was while having out meal. The lady at the till was friendly and she did ask but there was no point complaining at that point.
The place seemed to have a child friendly space but it did not look very clean or safe (there was fake turf tearing off which is not safe for instance). I also hoped for child friendly crockery, it was not the best idea to have milk in a large glass cup (maybe some investment in smaller cups would be good).
I didn't feel entirely comfortable dining here because overall the place did not look clean. Our table had old food or paint or whatever it was stuck to it even though it was definitely wiped down. Probably a bit of renovation and reviewnof...
