Not a good quality toasted ham and cheese sandwich, ham was wafer thin, cheese had no flavour probably mild cheddar, my partner had a tuna jacket potato with cheese, tuna came in a very small pot, not on top of the jacket like you'd expect, cheese was thinly cut squares and not many of them, potato was over cooked which my partner didn't even eat, that isn't how you make a jacket potato, again cheese no flavour, and tuna cheap quality, for the price they charge the potions should be bigger and better quality, if anyone thinks the toasted sandwich and tuna jacket are good quality they obviously don't eat out or just have no taste buds, cup of tea poor as well, we eat out all over the country always travelling and staying away, worst tuna jacket and toasted sandwich ever, from other reviews sounds like we should of had a cake, they even decided to clean out one of their machines which gave off the smell of a sewer while we were trying to eat, asking if we wanted to go outside to finish, why not wait till customers have gone at the end of the day, not good customer service, wouldn't recommend at all. The remedy is in...

Visited the Handlebar Cafe with my 9 month old daughter on Saturday and needless to say I was a little underwhelmed. The cafe feels cold and unwelcoming, the tables are slatted and therefore you cant put anything on them and the staff didn't appear welcoming or overly friendly.

I ordered a tea cake, which came after my coffee and unless you like your tea cakes anemic then I wouldn't recommend! I also overheard another customer order porridge which was listed on the board, however they had no porridge in the cafe!

Upon reading the Handlebar website, it states:

The Handlebar Cafe exists to help everyone connect with each other and the beautiful environment. Please leave the car at home and walk or cycle.

This is the contradicted by the following sentence...

Please note, there is 'no' customer WIFI in the cafe! Hmmm not so connected!

My wife and I like the thought of supporting small businesses however we would not rush back here in a hurry which is a shame. With a little more thought and effort, and due to the cafe's prime location, it could be a...

Went on a rainy Sunday for lunch with my family. The cafe urgently needs some adequate ventilation as the room was thick with a food haze and now all our clothes smell of food. The two avocados on toast we ordered were inedible as the rustic bread had been toasted to within an inch of its life and resembled cardboard. I ate one but was unable to eat the other as the drizzle of chilli oil overpowered any taste. The three extra hot hot chocolates were lukewarm at best and were disappointing. The three young lads who were working seemed very friendly and the service was quick. I didn’t make a fuss and the young lads might have provided an alternative but the cafe was busy and I really didn’t want to get into an awkward conversation. We left and I wasn’t going to make any sort of fuss but I’m now sat with indigestion. I’m sure it was just an off day and my wife said she visited it at the beginning of last year and it was considerably better. Today, I feel that the food was very poor and I wouldn’t...

Great (dog/bike friendly) cafe in a perfect spot. It's just off the path that takes your around Catherines Hill, easily accessible from Winchester (if you don't mind a good walk), or there's a car park just next door (which is busy at the best of times, so take that as you will). Stopped here after a long-ish walk with a companion and his dog. On arrival there was plenty of outside seating, along with tie on points for dogs. Someone has actually thought about that which is great to see. There's a good selection of drinks, cakes, food etc; you won't struggle to find something to your liking. We opted for some apple crumble cake, and pistacho carrot cake. Both cakes were excellent and the drinks (coffee) were delivered to our table very promptly. Would have no qualms about visiting this cafe again, and if you've got a 4 legged friend, they're welcome too. Keep up the excellent work, and I hope to see you guys again soon.
