Really bad vibe from this place as soon as we walked in with a mixed gender mixed age group no kids. The two young girls 'working' with their attitude soured our visit. First we were told by the barman either table service or order at the bar, even he was unsure to finish the sentence. The look on the girls faces led us to come in and order at the bar. Asked to try one IPA - meaning to buy. The kind barman thought I meant sample. The two girls giving eachother side eyes like we'd asked their mum's number! They created a really tense vibe at the bar and the poor barman looked sick to death of the pair of them. Really bad attitude looking down at all the customers too. Their idea of checking for orders was poking the head out hanging around then skulking to the bar and complaining how tight the customers were. If you're gonna hire kids why not those who actually appreciate the job and not act like they are forced to be there? We'd have stayed for a few hours but with the bar so empty on such a beautiful day we felt the gruesome (attitude) twosome had tiktoked the...
Read moreFirst time I've visited The Queen Inn and I was really impressed. It has a welcoming bar area as soon as you enter the pub, with an array of beers on draught and in kegs behind.
There was also real fire blazing away next to the bar and an equally warm welcome was given by the bar staff.
The pub had a community feel to it and there were plans for the development to the pub's front and rear gardens on display, which added to the cosy feeling as the pub clearly engages with its clientele and wants them to be involved.
I was visiting for Christmas lunch with colleagues and was very pleased with the menu choice and the options I chose.
There was 12 of us in the group and everything was brought in a timely fashion, so no one was unduly waiting for others to be served. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection, which certainly can be a tricky thing to achieve when catering for groups.
I would certainly visit again and is a good location for a quiet beer, meal or a session on the ale!
Thanks again to all the staff and...
Read moreWent to a leaving do for some colleagues. Friendly staff, a nice traditional indoor setting, the pub's own microbrewery and a pleasant outdoor seating area. A small car park to the side of the Inn & after 6pm, the time limit for on road parking is lifted until the following morning. With the menu, if you select the gourmet burger option / chunky chips / real onion rings / gammon with double fried egg, then these looked very tasty, but the two vegetarian options were poor. Some of our table had the Portobello mushroom option which had Mediterranean vegetables & sweet potato wedges. This was a bland, small boring dish which for £15 wasn't worth it. Would like to see steak on the menu for the omnivores, halloumi / plant based burger / quorn sausage with double egg as a vegetarian option. Would return here in the future to try out what the microbrewery has to...
