Late review but I went when they were still fairly new and just opened. I see by the reviews things may have improved. A very small restaurant and there was 2 other tables so not busy. We waited a while for the staff to ask us for drinks, we then placed our order. Service was slow. It took almost an hour for the food and it didn't come out all in one, it was as it was made. And to be honest we don't know why it took so long. They cooked the eel dish on a camping cooking stove and smoked the restaurant out, they switched the fan on and opened the door to air. We were also sat the table closest to the staff area so we could see the pile of empty dishes that were stacked in the sink area which wasn't very appeasing. There really should be a kitchen for dirty dishes in the back out of sight from customers. Also when a dish arrived, we were then told that an ingredient was missing from it, which really should've been mentioned beforehand so we could've ordered an alternative dish. Empty dishes and cups were not taken away and left to stack up on the table. Just some constructive criticism as someone who has worked in this industry. I hope it does well in future and to return as this is the only authentic sushi restaurant on the wirral and the food itself was lovely, as a new business it needs a few tweaks here and...

A Hidden Gem of Authentic Japanese Cuisine in Bebington, Wirral. Nikko Sushi is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Japanese food. Having spent time in Japan, I can confidently say the flavours here match the real deal. The ingredients are fresh, the sushi is beautifully crafted and full of flavour, and the chef’s house made soy sauce take each dish to another level.

What truly sets Nikko apart is the chef himself. His passion for Japanese cuisine shines through in every detail. With years of experience and a deep respect for traditional techniques, he prepares each dish with care, precision, and heart. His commitment to high standards is especially clear in the sushi—every piece is a work of art. He’s also incredibly kind and welcoming, adding warmth to the whole dining experience.

And don’t miss the tempura—light, crispy, and perfectly balanced, it’s the best I’ve had outside of Japan. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable Japanese meal, Nikko is...

After reading the reviews was looking forward to try out the food. Me and a couple of mates arrived at 8 and managed to get a table after a short wait, we all ordered 3 dishes, 2 of us asked for the Katsu don only to be told there was no rice !! As an alternative we both ordered the seafood udon noodles. The squid was chewy and barely edible and the octopus was the same. Food was lukewarm as well when it did eventually arrive after 30 min wait just for the first dishes, considering there where only 2 other people as well as us the service was very slow, maybe we caught them on a bad night but not having rice really was ridiculous. The scallop starter and miso sea bream soup was ok but the udon noodles and sea food was bland. The staff did not ask us if we enjoyed the food as we both left a lot of our main in the bowl. Very disappointing and we all decided we where unlikely going to...

UPDATE 24/02/24 After a number of revisits I can confidently say that this is the best dining experience I've ever had for the price, period. The tsukemono has had an increase in variety to provide an even greater spread of flavours and palate cleansers, and the chicken katsu curry is simply divine, making it feel like you've gone to a friend's house for a beautiful home-cooked meal. The family staff service is extremely polite and friendly as always, and deserve 100/5 stars! ORIGINAL Absolutely spectacular food, Tori karaage was superbly fresh and flavourful, tsukemono was beautifully crisp and bursting with flavours, and the sushi was genuinely the best I've ever eaten in my life! Will definitely be coming back many more times!
