A great gallery in a fine location with quality collections of paintings, sculpture, Ceramics, furniture and many other fascinating artefacts. For those who enjoy the arts it is well worth going. Lord Lever's collections which make up the virtually all the exhibits is what you might expect from a Victorian/Edwardian in that it features an impressive number of quality works of the Pre Raphaelites and other Victorian paintings and sculpture of the period. Many of the paintings have a familiarity as Lord Lever used many of the images in advertising and promotion for the soap products from which he derived his considerable fortune. There are also many other works by mainly British artists including Turner, Constable, Reynolds and many others. There are also excellent collections of Wedgwood Jasperware, Chinese pottery and the list goes on. The size of the gallery does not overwhelm and can be enjoyed in a single visit however there is such variety to keep you wanting to return...

Simply a feast for the eyes , superb collection of art, sculpture , furniture and ceramics . Preraphaelite lovers prepare to be wowed . What a treat it is to get up close to paintings you will have seen only in books? Wind your way slowly through this museum/ gallery new treasures await you room after room . I was told this was originally the overspill from the Lever's main residence , one can only imagine what that must've been like? There really is something for every taste there. Please contribute on your way in or out the upkeep of theses places isn't cheap . How lucky we are to have these places for all to delight in? Other country's charge a considerable fee to glimpse such treasures. Great snacks and refreshments are always available downstairs in the restaurant/ cafe. Lucky for us the Lever's had such good taste in their selections ? Parking is very easy with ample space all around and well positioned for strolling around Port...

We found the art gallery on a rainy Friday morning which was the opening day of the Matiz exhibition. We were greeted by a lovely attendant called Jo who explained the layout of the gallery and provided us with lots of info about Port Sunlight. We enjoyed hours taking in the beautiful collections and ran into Jo again as we were leaving. She'd taken time to find us to provide more Port Sunlight history which she'd printed off specially for us. We were totally taken aback at her kindness and can't thank her enough. Off to the museum shop to find an exhibition poster and the two lovely ladies there, arranged for me to have the last museum Matiz advertising poster as there were non for sale. I manage a customer service team of 60 so I know good service when I see it but I was blown away by the warmth and helpfulness of these fabulous staff. Thank you once again for making our visit even...

Art gallery in Port Sunlight that is free entry but relies on donations. Has café. Outstanding collection of furniture, ceramics, statues and paintings. Awesome Pre-Raphaelite paintings, also works by one of my favourites, Alma Tadema along with Constable and Turner. Millais, Burne Jones, worth a visit just to see the work of these Pre-Raphaelites. The gallery is well laid out with period rooms and the pieces of furniture are beautifully crafted. It's not my sort of thing, but I really appreciate the skill, patience and dexterity that went into making the cabinet decorated with tiny rolls of coloured paper, quite incredible and also, apparently, very rare. There is an upstairs gallery which gives a grand viewpoint onto the collections below. A magnificent gallery and highly recommended.

The Lady Lever Gallery is charming and full of gems and you can easily kill a few hours walking around. The grounds around the gallery are lovely and the village is charming and quaint. The only negative I'd say is that the gallery does feel a little disjointed to navigate at times and doesn't flow as well as some other museums and galleries and did start to become slightly overwhelming after a while - this could just be me and also due to maintenance and works in the gallery, but just a heads up to others, there's a lot to take in! I was however ecstatic to discover a whole wall of paintings featuring Elisabeth Siddal, the pieces in the galleries’ collections are stunning and definitely worth a visit.

I have visited this lovely gallery a few times and have always enjoyed wandering around looking at the fabulous paintings and other treasures. It was built by Lord Lever in honour of his wife and is the second largest building in the world built as such a tribute, the first being the Taj Mahal. I was with a group this time and had arranged for a talk to be given by Fiona Slattery Clark, the Curator of Decorative Arts at National Museums Liverpool. At our request it focused on the fabulous collection of Chinese porcelain in the gallery but also included the history of the gallery and Lord Lever. A great talk and a good introduction a visit to the gallery.
