I have visited this Wirral pub now on quite a number of occasions and cannot recommend it enough! The pub is spotlessly clean and is well kept with professional, friendly and welcoming staff. The food and drinks here are awesome too with a great selective choice on the menu to choose from. I very highly recommend the Hunter’s chicken in particular! Delicious!!

There is a bingo night every Tuesday evening which Kayleigh runs. This in itself is great fun and Kayleigh makes everyone feel very welcome it seems and the time just seems to fly!! The Clipper has regular musicians/acts performing of a weekend so you are never short of entertainment as there is always something going on to cater for everyone! Of a Friday evening up until midnight, there is a resident DJ #rockdjane who does disco and karaoke. If you have never seen #rockdjane before, she is unique, outstanding and unlike any other DJ on the circuit. Customers who visit of a Friday are made to feel most welcome by Jane and Jane has her own unique style of DJing that makes people feel relaxed when getting up to sing whilst at the same time, makes them want to get up and dance to a lot of the excellent music she plays! No week is the same as Jane will never play the same music week in, week out. She takes the time and trouble to put great playlists together so that every week there is a great variation. If you love disco and karaoke and are looking for a great head start to your weekend out, look no further than the Mersey Clipper! Jane is superb, excels and is amazing at what she does and has the place buzzing! (Literally!)

I sincerely hope that the Clipper is one of those pubs that remains in business, under the same management and with the same staff for many years to come! Every staff member is an asset to Jack, the Manager and thank you all so much to everyone involved for continuing to make this establishment such a brilliant venue to visit. HIGHLY recommended in all areas!...

Nice atmosphere. Got drinks and ordered food from a beaded guy at the bar. Lovely lad, all good. We were doing the Thursday 2 for 1 burgers. The 2 burgers come and one is cooked perfect the other is very obviously burnt. Bun and patty. I take it back to the bar where there’s an older blonde lady with glasses. I politely say sorry to be that guy but could we get a redo on this burger it’s definitely burnt. Without even looking at me properly she sluggishly says ‘yea sure’.

She comes back to the table 2 mins later with the exact same burger and says they’ve done it again for me but it looks the same because it’s ’flame grilled’.

At this point im still polite and with the two burgers on the table i say ‘yes but flamed grilled doesn’t mean it should be burnt, you can see the other burger that we have here is perfect compared to the burnt one.

She looks at them both and just genuinely doesn’t care and says no it’s flamed grilled so it’ll always look like that. At this point she’s basically already walking away and keen to dismiss us says ‘is that all good?’

At this point I know Im talking to someone who doesn’t care and face either making a bit of a scene in front of my partner or just saying okay keeping everyone relaxed.

I say ‘okay’ and the night was fine, it’s not that deep it’s just frustrating. We had one burnt burger which was just easily avoidable.

I’ve still given 4 stars because I know that lady doesn’t do the place itself justice. She was dismissive, rude and just wrong about the burger. I know it’s just a job, we all get by and do what we have to do but have a little pride in the work you do surely.

I just took a pick of both the burger buns side by side to show the normal vs the burnt burger. Normal on left vs burnt right. You be the judge. I should have taken a pic of the patties but just wasn’t that bothered.

Would go back obviously, good little pub....

We went at 16:30 tonight for a meal for my aunty's 60th birthday. We pre booked a table for around 9 of use. Including 3 childrend. Aged from 7-9.

There was a specific older lady who worked there, who would hover over to us, every time the kids got up and moved. She would go over to them and tell them to not touch that, or don't stand there and don't sit there. Every single time they moved, she would navigate over to by us, and jump all over the kids for moving.

I'm a strict parent and when ever it thought they was getting a little to loud or whatever, I would tell them myself to sit down and chill out for a bit. I would never ever allow my children to be ferral and run around in any environment let alone where people where eating.

On third occasion when she hovered over to the kids, I asked her to leave them alone and get of thier backs. They wasn't doing anything wrong. And I am watching and parenting them myself. She rudley snapped back at me, "this is a pub and the kids can not run around"

Firstly, I do not appreciate her tone and secondly, if she had an issue, she should have come to me and explained if she had an issue. But she was quietly going over to them every single time they moved.

Appalling behaviour by her. My kids are good, they have manors and they know how to behave. This women is an absolutely terrible example of your staff. She should be...

Went here for the first time in years. Firstly although it says you must pay for the car park, a friendly customer said there is a tablet inside for free carparking so take note! Welcomed by staff when we entered. Checked out the menu, so many options. I went up to order food and drinks, and treated partner to a Jack Daniels as it was his birthday. We had nachos to share, then ribs and fish and chips. OMG lush. The Rib meal was massive with chips and corn on cob and slaw. He couldn't finish it, fortunately the pub is prepared and kindly provided a box to take them home. The fish chips and mushy peas were delicious, very fresh and gorgeous batter. When we left, the man behind the bar said bye and remembered it was his birthday and said enjoy the rest of his birthday. Now whilst this may seem a little thing, it is great customer service 😀 👍 We will return

We went in for a quiet meal on Monday night, about 6.30pm. The rush had died down but wasn't empty. Got served with drinks really quickly, and our table was ready for us. We both ordered 9oz rib eye steak with a hunters topping, one well and one medium rare. Food only took about 20 minutes and was cooked just as we asked. Really enjoyed the meal, and the chocolate sundae afterwards was the best I've had, thanks to the lovely young lady that served us called Cait. Nice, relaxing, and enjoyable evening.
