Ok, honest review time. I liked this place, we'd eaten here once before about 2 years and my wife had to remind me about it because I'd forgotten. So it wasn't that memorable the first time. This time though I did enjoy the meal, kind of... I presume it was all cooked to order as there was a pleasant wait for each course, we all had 3 courses. The cheesy garlic bread was lovely and a really sizeable portion. The other starters, in particular my king prawns in a garlic broth were a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, very very tasty, the broth I think, hope, was home made. It was extremely good, so much so I picked the little bowl up and supped the last of it lol, how wude, but, here's the kicker, 3 prawns!!! Yep, just 3 prawns, for nearly £9.¡!! I was disappointed when it landed. So, a bit over priced in my humble opinion. That's not too take away from the flavour which did make up for the small portion a little. The main meal was lovely, and a good sized portion. Chicken burger, chicken and mushroom in sauce and 2x muzzy's specials, all very good. And, to be honest, the muzzy special beat me, I couldn't finish it. We all had a sweet, but yet again, portion size was on the small side and, I think a little over priced. I always enjoy a biscoff cheese cake, especially with whipped cream, but on this occasion, I might be wrong but the " whipped cream" came out of a spray can. It was that airyated cream that melts and dissolves as you look at it. Service?? Very good, although it was a Thursday evening and they only had a couple of covers in. And there was a few walk ins too that hadn't booked and they got them in straight away. So overall service was very very good. Only one lager on draught but san Miguel is always good, anything else is bottled. We enjoyed around 2hrs, so no time limit on the table which was nice. Gotta mention this because it's not always the case, but the toilet was very very clean so a big tick there. Parking!! Well, if you know the area then you'll find something, maybe even park in Matalan after 6pm, dunno, but, parking outside the restaurant is extremely limited. So, in summary, 8/10. Food was very tasty, which, let's face it, it's what you go out to dinner for, good tasty food. Price!!?? Well, 4 of us, we all had 3 courses, all had 2 drinks.... £175.. we rounded up to £200. So, 50 quid a head including drinks, that's not too bad, I don't think, for an overall experience. Would we return, yes I think we will. With the caveat that we'd skip the starter, and maybe the pud. The main meal was lovely and a really good portion so, I'd like to go back and try a few other items on the menu.
So, thank you to muzzy and the team, we'll...
Read moreWe booked to go here as my 20-year-old son had requested a kebab for his Christmas Dinner. I agreed we could go, even though this was 50% more than what I would normally spend for eating out on Christmas day. Between 5 of us, we had 4 different starters, which were all very nice. 2 adult Lamb shanks and a mixed kebab received good reviews. However, the Traditional Roast Turkey was not Traditional at all. There were no Roast Potatoes or Stuffing like stated on the menu and the Festive Roast Vegetables: a) weren't roasted - Bullet Sprouts cooked solely in water b) weren't traditional or roasted - Tinned Carrots (which were hard) and were not the traditional Carrot and Swede/Turnip, Peas (Don't belong on a roast and certainly not a Christmas Dinner), Cauliflower (Cooked well) & Broccoli (which was also hard), There were no Parsnips or Cabbage and no pigs in blankets. We did however get a burnt Yorkshire...
Read moreWe went for a meal for a birthday,we waited 40 minutes for a table downstairs which we had booked weeks ago.My meal was brought on its own which the waiter apologised about & I had to eat as would have been cold as near finished it when other meals came. We ordered garlic bread as starters which came when we were half way through main course we refused it as too.late, ordered greek salad which eventually came but not a greek salad,we asked for water & then had to ask for glasses!!!!.Sadly &.unfortunately it certainly wasn't the service we have had there in the past which is a real shame as the food was good if & when it came. They did give us a bottle of wine as a gesture but.not the experience we wanted for a birthday meal, there were other groups there that had issues too. Lets hope you address the problems & get back to how you were on the numerous occasions we have dined there...
