Only giving one star as it’s impossible to give zero. Went on recommendation of friends (who after the recommendation, we’ve decided not to speak to ever again). Knew it was going to be an experience when we ordered a bottle of the house red (industry insider trick - always a good marker, particularly in Greek and Italian restaurants, both countries famous for their wine making - order the house wine, it’s usually been picked out by the chef to compliment the majority of dishes on the menu). Reasonably priced at £14.50. When it arrived I was surprised to find it was in fact Aldi’s £3.29 Baron wine. I could have gone a 10 minute walk up the road and bought a crate for the same price I had just paid. Had starters of Spanakopita, which to be honest, was ok, couldn’t really taste the cheese though. My partners grilled haloumi, we are still convinced was actually a lump of bathroom sealant they pulled out of the (in fairness clean) toilets. Mains was Stumbi and my partner had steak. My Stumbi (a Greek lamb stew), I am convinced was microwave food and had never met a Greek in its life. My partners steak, ordered rare, arrived and looked like they had brought it from the burns unit at Arrowe park it was that well done. After this, for some reason we decided to have a bottle of Prosecco to finish the night off. Should of learnt from the experience of the wine as I then found out I’d just paid £18 for a bottle of, I kid you not, B&Ms finest vintage (ok if you are paying £4.99 to drink on your own in the house, not ok for a restaurant experience though). At each point I politely voiced my concerns to the young waiter, who even though it was not his fault he works in faulty towers Greek style, didn’t offer any solution, but just agreed with my concerns and laughed about it stating “I know!”. If you want reminding of Greek hotel, that you stayed in on an 18-30s holiday, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay away, it’s enough to put you off ever leaving the house. Never...

But what really sets Yiamas Greek Taverna apart from other restaurants is their exceptional service. The staff and owner are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in. Read moreWe had an early evening meal here on a Friday.
It is quite a pleasant place with a nice garden.
My starter was the garides skordates (prawns. Not bad, but the prawns were a bit over cooked and the sauce fairly bland. My wife had the dolmades which she enjoyed. Both were served with warm pitta bread.
I had the mixed grill for my main course with peppercorn sauce. Pam had the garides skordates. The mixed grill was a generous size although rather lacking in flavour. It came with potatoes and rice. The potatoes were soggy.
We had a bottle of house white wine with the meals and we were given a complimentary glass of ouzo at the end. Staff were friendly and efficient except that when my wife made an observation about her meal the waiter said he would take that up with the chef, but he didn't report back.
Total cost was £54.65 which would be reasonable for a meal of that type, but the food quality wasn't up...
