My local fish and chip shop BYFLEET FISH BAR was closed today so we thought we give this a try as we see it busy as we pass by at times the girl on the counter with the glasses is rude as and cannot handle pressure at all her attitude after I said is that the fish I am not eating burnt fish can mine be cooked fresh the oil they was cooking in was black the sasauge we ate while waiting we had to ask for napkins it a was so full of fat I've never seen a sasauge like it the man cooking the fish was constant looking at me after he laughed at what I said about the fish I new from then I'd made a mistake we have for home and yes not to my surprise the food is THE WORST I HAVE EVER HAD IN FISH AND CHIPS I DO NOT BELIVE FOR ONE MINUTE THESE REVIEWS ARE REAL the pics I have says it all it's a rotten dirty place drive 1 mile down the road and u won't be disappointed to think I've complained Nd nothing back from them.is a terrible thing...
Read moreThe restaurant was busy when we arrived on Saturday at 6:30pm, had to wait a couple of minutes. Front was full of people who had phoned their orders in. Warmly greeted as we sat down, we were presented with a plate with bread and six shrimp/prawns on it to nibble on while we made our minds up. I chose large cod and chips, my wife had plaice and chips (in the photo), as you can see it was huge, but we managed to finish it off. The mushy peas were plentiful and good, fish was nice and hot, which it should be, chips excellent, batter was crisp, even the little bits left on the plate at the the end. To top it all I was given a giant pickled onion. Service was excellent and friendly, seems like lots of regulars were dining there, staff had time to chat as it became less busy. Great...
Read moreStaff were really supportive and enabled me to choose food without the fear of it making me unwell. The only bits of advice i ahve is chips could have been cooked a bit longer to make them crispier and the website needs to reflect there are gluten free options (as a separate part on the page instead of how it is set out as it confused me to understand it)
EDIT, when I went yesterday I was told the chips were done in the same oil as the gluten things but they were doing gluten free so I don’t understand if there’s some cross contamination going on… it has very much worried me since then…
From this I do feel staff need more training...
