Myself, my friend, her husband and our 2 children were travelling back from Birmingham and after a very long day, we wanted to find somewhere to stop off to get us all some dinner and give the kids a break from the driving (travelling to Newport). Found this place on Google maps. We got there approximately 7.30pm - on a Sunday, it was very busy but luckily we managed to get a table. My friend had hunters chicken and her son had fish fingers, chips and beans - both very much enjoyed their meals. However the 3 of us that had a carvery were very disappointed. There was only gammon and turkey available as meat options, which is fine and no complaints there but the vegetables/potatoes were really dry and bland. The roast potatoes were like cardboard, a good range of vegetables, but the carrots were hard and personal opinion should have been cooked longer, all the 'good' stuffing was gone and the remaining bits were burnt to the sides of the serving dish, the cauliflower cheese - if you can call it that - was basically just cauliflower, broccoli was good, red cabbage was ok, mash potato was lovely as was the onion gravy! The finished plate was a lot nicer to look at than what it tasted. Staff at the bar were lovely, helpful and prompt with getting our drinks served. We were the first ones waiting for the carvery but service was very slow, we were stood for at least 15 minutes listening to the guy in charge of carving the meat having a good chat with another staff member before actually serving us, there was a queue of roughly 12 people behind us before he finally got going, he was friendly but seemed quite fed up 🙈
There is a small play area for children and the restaurant in general is a lovely little place. We would consider going again if passing by the area however I would not be choosing the carvery if we...

Read moreCompletely on a whim, we went there.
Firstly, it was cold in there, and when ordering drinks, I wanted a hot chocolate to warm me up. They'd sold out! The table was not clean it had remanders of food and salt all over the table, we asked to be moved, which they did, but unfortunately, they hadn't cleaned that table either. I went to the bar to place the order for food, went to the servery as we both had a carvery, they had a selection of meets but they had run out of pigs in blankets and Yorkshire pudding, they noted down our table number and stated they'd bring them over once done. They only arrived at the table when we asked about them. There was only one guy carving the meet, replacing the food from the kitchen, and restocking the plates. When ordering dessert, there was one member of staff serving, yet there were a number of staff wondering around. I have to compliment them on the selection of dessert, and they were huge a meal within itself. The clientele was the dreg-ends and used the place to scoff as much food as they could in one sitting to save money to buy essentials like tobacco...
