1 star is for the decor and lovely statues. Quite authentic. We ate last night before going to the cinema. Its a massive restaurant but weirdly very empty. The service is shocking. No communication. They just want you to sit eat and leave with as little fuss as possible. £20.80 pp for the all you can eat buffet. The a la carte menu is available but you have to request it. Satay chicken was hugely overpriced at over £8. They force you to have the buffet. We tried the hors d'oeuvres to share. It came out far too quickly to be freshly cooked. Ribs were all fat and gristle, we then ordered a few basic dishes. The chicken was like blu tack. Not proper chicken. The crispy beef had no meat flavour. I can only describe it as the burnt crispies you get at the bottom of a deep fat fryer. All the dishes were packed out with massive chunks of onion because its cheaper. Everything was so salty we ended up leaving most of it. The service was shocking. The man just hovered at the table and as soon as you put your spoon down he swept it away even if you hadn't finished. No checks to see if everything was OK. Overpriced and disgusting. Dont waste your time or money here. 10% service charge us automatically added and you have to pay it as per the ridiculous rules on the back...
Read moreI visited the restaurant with my sister, both of us vegans. We checked the menu before hand and were recommended by a friend of ours, who is also vegan. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a large variety of vegan food; which had been marked as vegan on the menu. After finishing our starters and then finishing the first part of the main we ordered more food. When the second lot of food arrived we noticed egg in our noodle dish! We flagged this with the waitress. The manager came over to speak to us about the situation. We told him we were vegans and can't eat animal produce, he then described to us how they believe the term vegan to be another term for vegetarian - completely incorrect. There was a massive language barrier. After some talk he told us how it could be down to cross contamination. Unfortunately, it is quite clear the restaurant doesn't know the meaning of the term vegan and they've highlight there food incorrectly. Also, it is apparent to us we did eat animal produce so we'd like to warn other vegans when visiting. On a bright note, to non-vegans, the food...
Read moreI went to the China Palace with a group of colleagues for our end of year / Christmas meal. We were a group of 15 and decided to go for the buffet menu. The food was average but came quite quickly. The service was okay, not a single enquiry as to how our meal was or if everything was ok. I noticed that 10% was added to the bill which was not a surprise as most restaurants that can't earn the 10% add it on. The overall experience of the restaurant was quite poor as I expected better service considering the size of our party. The food was okay but standard fare, nothing exceptional on the menu and trying to get a recommendation from one of the waiting staff was impossible. After paying for my bill I was handed a plate with a handful of mints on it without so much as a thank you. I don't know if this kind of service us standard in Worthing but I wouldn't choose to eat here again based on my...
