Very negative experience. One day last week I went to Efes Turkish Cuisine for dinner. I arrived at the restaurant before 9 PM relying on the information from their website which stated they close at 9:30 PM. As soon as I was seated at an empty table by one of the waitresses, another waitress intervened, saying that she needed to confirm with the kitchen as they were about to close. This situation gave me the impression that something was wrong right from the start. I ordered my food and found it to be just okay. As per my usual practice I like to end my meal with a nice French cognac and an espresso coffee. I made a special request for a double cognac and a coffee, but unfortunately I was only served a single cognac and an almost empty coffee cup, which was quite disappointing. I had a very disappointing experience at the restaurant. When I got the bill, I was surprised to discover a 10% service charge that wasn't mentioned on the menu, and the waitress didn't inform me about it either. This is an unacceptable and abusive practice. Customers should always be informed of any additional charges before being asked to pay. Demanding payment without prior notice is completely unacceptable and almost akin to robbery. I found it disappointing that no one bothered to ask me if I was enjoying my meal or if I required anything else while I was eating, the staff's lack of interest in my satisfaction was quite evident. This place is not worth returning to due to below average service, just OK food, and high prices for...
Read moreMy friend and I are visiting from California and went to Efe’s with my dad—it was our very first time trying Turkish food. The host was very nice and accommodating. We didn’t realize we needed a reservation, but she kindly seated us for an hour before the group with a booking arrived, which we really appreciated.
The restaurant itself has such a lovely atmosphere, and the food overall was delicious! I ordered the mixed shish because I wanted to try the lamb. It ended up being too salty for my taste, but I later learned that this is the traditional Turkish style of preparing lamb.
When I mentioned this to the blonde waitress and asked if I could switch to a chicken kabob instead, she seemed offended and questioned why I didn’t like it. She even brought back our original server, Andra, and said, “I told her about the lamb,” when in reality she had only asked if I was sure I wanted it.
Andra, however, was kind and understanding. I explained that everything else tasted great—it was just the lamb I wasn’t used to since I’m not from here. She reassured me, suggested I come back, and offered to help me choose something I’d enjoy next time.
If it’s your first time trying Efe’s, especially if you’re visiting from another country, I’d highly recommend asking the staff for suggestions. The menu has so many great options, and with the right guidance you’ll really enjoy the experience. Andra in particular is wonderful at making guests...
Read moreWe visited Efes on 18th May, to celebrate my mum's 86th birthday. I had rung beforehand to ask for a quiet table as my adult niece is autistic and highly sensitive to noise. Upon arrival, the person who greeted us knew all about our request and offered two options. My niece chose a table in the back corner and the staff moved a number of other tables to accommodate her: they could not have been more helpful. The waitress didn't even bat an eyelid at the request for feta and chips. We shared a delicious hot mezze; the halloumi was incredibly moreish and we all enjoyed our main courses (salmon, a Greek salad and a vegetarian guvec.) Of course the bread was wonderful too. Sadly, there was no room for dessert. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and I would certainly recommend...
