We’ve been chasing the ultimate breakfast around Worthing for the last week or so, dealing with jet lag and two little rascals waking at whichever hour they woke (4am? Sure, let’s start the day now!) we found that Worthing is a bit restricted with catering for early morning brekky spots.

Most places opening between 8-9am I so wish we’d discovered this sooner - they open from 7.30am!

We’re now in more of a routine at least, but today, Finch was recommended by my good friend, so we decided to check it out. Just wish we’d discovered this on those earlier mornings - it is everything brekky should be. Fab coffee, proper flat white (not any old frothy coffee), an awesome looking menu (though my first choice brioche French toast was off the menu today, a good reason to return!) and incredible decor - a cosy yet trendy vibe, and couple all of this with the friendliest service by both barista and chef/waiter, we found ourselves a winner!

We opted for the huevos rancheros - a mix of avo, feta, black beans, fried egg and some spicy sauce atop a tortilla. It was lush - super tasty, and healthy enough!

My fella ordered a Bloody Mary, which was our third sample of the last few days, and the first one to be done ‘just so’ and to our liking (yes I helped him finish it, it was awesome!)

Our son also had a white hot chocolate, garnished with a toasted marshmallow - he didn’t like the toasted bit but I had no problem nibbling around it, reminding me of camping.

It was all just gorgeous. And a little bonus, added touch that I appreciated when I used the bathroom - a little toiletries basket! Complete with dry shampoo, hand cream and deodorant I think. A lovely little touch. Scrupulously clean too, a clearly very well managed eatery in the heart of Warwick st. We’ll be back for sure.

Thanks so much for an awesome experience and keep up the high levels of service and product. An asset...

The place itself was lovely, the staff were super friendly and the menu sounded awesome. The only thing was the food itself, it was so disappointing. I really wanted it to be great because it sounded amazing and the people / place were superb but the food was such a let down. I hope I got them on a bad day because it really under delivered. I had the chilli con carne and ‘croque Monsieur’. The chilli had no flavour, it’s was so watery, I couldn’t taste any spices, I could pick out individual bits of onion and there was no seasoning, it needed more cooking, it tasted as if it had been botched together last minute. The croque monsieur tasted decent but wasn’t a croque monsieur, was just a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, classically it would have melted cheese or a gratinated cheese sauce on top. This is such a shame because I really liked the place and I had high expectations of the food. It was priced okay, just shame the food didn’t fully deliver. Would go back again hoping my mind...

Have never posted a negative review before, especially as I have gone to Finch Worthing for years and absolutely love the food and staff. However, if a seagull swoops down and grabs my unstarted £11 breakfast, I personally would have thought something could have been done rather than making me pay for it all.

I get that it's tough to control the seagulls in Warwick Street, and that customers sitting outside should keep an eye on their food, but expecting customers to pay full price when things like this happen seems to me to be a poor way to treat customers.

I've increased the stars from a 1 to a 2 as I do like the place, the service & food is great. But when people pay for food, I feel they are also paying for the experience of being looked after. Maybe the owner could consider getting umbrellas, side screens or a warning sign. Without any of that in place, I feel charging full amount shows a lack of empathy & responsibility....

Style over substance. The place looks great, has a good atmosphere and I'm sure it's a superb venue for a glass of wine or coffee. However we came for breakfast and honestly I wasn't that impressed. The food like the décor looks amazing, very stylish and very modern, but the cooking quality and taste were lacking, plus the service was iffy. I had the breakfast (£9) which looked great, but the sausage was dry and badly cooked, the homemade beans were nice but could do with more of a kick and they were so tomato tasting that it meant the addition of the roasted tomato on the plate was a waste. The other dish was sweet potato hamhock, which came with hard poached eggs and that's not good enough. We had to wait over 30mins for the food so frankly it should be served perfect. All in all I'd be wary of going here for food but it's well worth a drinks visit

I love finch, It’s become a fire favorite for me within worthing town. I’m gluten free and they have such a great selection of items of their menu which are not classed as the ‘normal’ dishes available to a gluten free person when wanting to dine out which is so nice and makes you feel like it’s a real treat! One time I asked for the gf quesadilla and they had run out of wraps, I said no worries and asked for something different - about 5 minutes later the waiter returned to the table and said the manager had been to the shops and got some gf wraps as they knew I was disappointed. Now that is above and beyond customer service!
