The Broadwater — Restaurant in Worthing

My partner and I visited this pub on Sunday 21st September. We have eaten here before but it was outside in the sun and just a light meal. We booked a table and requested to eat inside via their webpage. We ordered our meal and drinks and should compliment the staff who were all helpful and lovely. We waited around 15 miutes for our food to be served. We had ordered one Roast beef and one roast chicken with additional roast potatoes. When the food was delivered we reminded the staff that we had ordered additional roast potatoes and she responded by saying that they had been put on the roast beef meal. Which surprised me as there was only around six very small potatoes pieces which were definitely not roast potatoes. We were disappointed with the meals. The carrots whilst lovely tasting were overcooked and cold. The parsnips were undercooked and nearly impossible to cut. The roast potatoes were most definitely not roasts but fried bits of potatoes that tasted more like chunks of chips rather than lovely roasts. The Yorkshire puddings were left off and brought to us separately. We had to request additional gravy for both meals as there was only half a small pot served with the meals. We were extremely disappointed with the food especially after reading good reviews. We confirmed to the staff that the food was fine when they did a check back because we didn’t want to raise any issues whilst we were there. Although the pub both inside and outside is clean and tidy and the staff were really polite and professional based on our eating experience we would not visit for a roast again nor would we recommend...

Visited during a lunchtime for a cheap and cheerful lunch, attracted by the offer of a £10 meal with a £1 upgrade to include any draught beer which was advertised on the offer card and verbally by the bar staff who were both very pleasant. I upgraded to a pint of Guinness for my wife and a pint of Cider for myself, being assured they were included in the offer with our scampi and chips. Once the drinks were poured, it turned out they weren't included and I was charged full price. The bar staff couldn't change the pricing and couldn't see that they should honour their written and verbal offer of £11 for the meal and alcoholic drink. Instead, they offered to throw away the drinks and replace them with soft drinks to get the £10 deal. I didn't want to just waste the drinks, so I paid up, but it was the wrong outcome. There was barely anyone else in the pub, so it lacked atmosphere, but the food was ok and the staff pleasant enough. But I was drawn by an offer that wasn't honoured.

Note to above. Following my review, Diane the manager, contacted me to explain the issue and how it occurred. Without further ado, she offered a complimentary lunch for two with drinks as a gesture of goodwill. We popped in on a Sunday lunchtime and were treated to a full roast dinner with pints of Guiness and Cider, all of which were excellent and followed by Christmas pudding on the house. Staff were very attentive, good atmosphere in the pub, friendly regulars and the food was lovely. The original mistake with the offer was just a glitch, but the response was first class and as a result, we will return. Happy Christmas to Diane...

Yesterday we went for a meal very disappointed, we wait in the door 10 minutes for someone came to said to us the table, a lady maybe the chef from the kitchen came in us direction and shouting us if want order food the kitchen is closed you suppose to be here 7:45 no 7:55, very rude this lady. Never we came back. How the economy from this country going up if in place like this refuse to serve a food and treating people like this, they forget that to have a business like this open they need to be nice with customers we pay these people's salaries, we spend money there to pay. I was sitting having a drink with my friends and I noticed that the kitchen had not closed in the end because there were still dishes to be served at certain tables Thank you for the service but I regret that you lost 4 customers your service is terrible. If I had a chef in my restaurant like yours, he wouldn't be in my company, it was a waste, time and money. I m sorry for the owner, the employer service drinks are nicely....
