Me and my girlfriend decided to eat here in the evening on the Saturday just gone . I cannot explain how disappointed me and my partner are! This is only are second experience here! First time was absolutely brilliant! We were so looking forward to coming back here for another delicious meal. This time it was well below standard disappointing infact... We came in on the Saturday night, just after 6pm before it got busy, with only a handful of tables being used in the restaurant area. Both of us finally decided what we wanted to eat after 5 minutes of looking at the menu. As we were waiting not one member of your staff had a clue we there until 6.35pm at least 25mins of waiting until we were served. Apart from the waiting everything was going well. We had are starter, which we loved and we both just dismiss the waiting to be served as the starter was delicious. Just after finishing this is where it went horribly wrong for the restaurant.... We noticed the pub starting to get busy filling up in the restaurant area. We knew we would get are food well before anyone else as we came in early. We started to notice other tables were having there food giving to them well before us! Tables of 4 and 6 people around us getting their food out! There was only 2 of us who ordered well before these people who weren't even around at the point of us ordering! We started to get frustrated, so I question one of your waiter's who unfortunately didn't have a name badge so I cannot tell you who he was. I asked him for an update on table 12 foods order. All i had got was it's coming and didn't even check in the kitchen to see when it was coming out to us! So after an hour finally the food got to us! The food was awful!!!! Not one person came to check on us to ask us about the food. My girlfriend decided to up to the a staff member and complained how awful it was. She had a chicken and bacon carbonara, which was very chewy and pasta was undercooked. Too her surprise the response she got which we think was a manager in there words saying 'oh I'm sorry I wouldn't eat that myself as it's a package product and isn't very nice we are not a Italian restaurant'..... I mean wow talk about being honest or what! So your staff member wouldn't eat it himself to tell us it's microwaved! To wait for a meal which is microwaved and tasted awful for a couple of minutes to be served to you an hour later is appalling! Just to add I had a cheese and bacon burger which tasted horrendous! which on your menu says served with relish and seasoned fries... Fries were not seasoned and no relish. So a burger and some pasta took well over an hour how the hell does that happen. Lastly went to the bar to pay for are food made sure the carbonara was removed and did complain to another staff member who ended up huffing and puffing just rude! We were generally being polite and that was the response we got! Fortunately we will never be...
Read moreI've been to this pub on many occasions over many years, only living a short walk away but this was my first visit since it's recent "revamp" and first restaurant experience this year & It was a really disappointing experience unfortunately.
Booked a table for 4 on Sunday, for my daughters 9th Birthday. As soon as we arrived I could tell they looked short staffed, not a problem we're in no rush and it can't be helped sometimes.
What really disappointed / annoyed me was my daughter had purposely put her new dress & sparkly shoes on to dress up for a meal out, holding her helium huge number 9 balloon - excited feeling grown up, eventually a lady came over, who i assume was the restaurant manager as she was not in an ember inns shirt, she acknowledged me and confirmed a table for 4 reservation, at no point did she even make the effort to acknowledge my daughter or even wish her a Happy Birthday - busy or not this is just a polite thing to do costs nothing and takes no time.
This continued with every interaction with every staff member we had contact with. Once we'd finished the food which was not bad, average I guess, it was time to light the candles and have her birthday cake. I waited a while no one came over to clear the table so I placed all the plates on the table next to us and waited some more. Still no one, so I went to the bar waited some more time & politely asked for 4 small plates and knife to cut the cake - I was of course given these without the mutter of one word again from the restaurant manager. Thanks. We set the cake up with some candles and lit them, sang Happy Birthday much to my daughters embarrassment and thankfully for her the atmosphere was so bad in here that not one other table or person joined in with the happy birthday (as I say I think my daughter was very pleased with that) but more to point out the awful atmosphere in the Northstar on a Sunday at 6pm! - all was good we had the cake then waited some more for someone to come over (the dirty plates still sat on the table next to us) and I wanted to pay the bill. No one arrived, so I decided to go to the bar to pay, waited some more... the bar person asked what table I was on, I had no idea, eventually and after complete silence from the bar staff team member for some time she suddenly blurted out can you check the bill and make sure you're happy with it - I confirmed it was correct and paid. Our little party left to complete silence, not one thank you not one did you enjoy your meal and more importantly to me not one member of staff acknowledging my Daughter and wished her a happy birthday.
Now she was non the wiser thankfully and enjoyed her time, I however am left absolutely underwhelmed & disgusted than those who chose a career in the service industry clearly have no idea how to provide service. Sadly what an awful experience I certainly wont...
Read moreVisited on the 4th August for an evening meal. Table of 5. Took advantage of the government eat out offer. This restaurant is really going downhill. I know there is a pandemic on and some people are having real struggles but this is a honest review. The restaurant and bar were understaffed as usual. Even though we had pre booked there was a 45 minute wait for our mains. There was a further 40 minute wait for dessert. I wanted a cheeseburger but the only one on the menu had bacon. I asked if the bacon could be swapped for a extra bit of cheese? The answer was a flat no because the system wouldn't allow it and something to do with stock control. Seriously I know a piece of bacon costs more than a bit of cheese. The vegetarian options are very poor. My partner ordered the halloumi The whole meal was dry and overcooked. It clearly is freezer to fryer food and no cooking, as such is involved. The desserts are just straight out of the microwave and the whole meal left a greasy taste in our mouths. With terrible food and poor service it's off our list. Thank you for responding to this honest review. It shows you care. thank you for pointing out my mistake. Your right you don't have halloumi on your menu. My partner had wanted it because she had it last time but the waitress had said it wasnt on. Sorry for the error. We booked under the name of Boundey for our party of 4. Hopefully you can use this to verify the booking. I don't want people reading this review to get the impression it is a phantom review. Thank you.just to update this review to prove its genuine. The bill ref is za180246 pos 02. Total £42.15 . Table 34 4th August 2020 20:22. Ball is now...
