My review on Just Eat: Could have made a better burger in my kitchen! Low fat to meat ratio, rendering the patty tasteless which was also under seasoned. The Portobello mushroom was not sautéed enough, large amounts of water making the burger soggy. Very oily! Chips were not double fried and they too, were oily. You forgot the mozzarella sticks and the coleslaw and issued no apology, or substitution. Stick to being a pub Your response on Just Eat Thanks Ali it sounds like you are a bit of a burger connoisseur yourself so perhaps best to sticking to making burgers at home we only make about 700 a week and have largely some great reviews. Obviously a little work to do for our new takeaway service in our first week - must try harder. Thanks for supporting your local businesses at this time This is the conversation that took place on Just Eat, since you have decided to act condescendingly, let me take this respond here: Yes I am quite the burger expert having had dined at over 150 burger places on 5 continents, however you don't need to be a "connoisseur" to understand the very basic concept of meat:fat or seasoning for that matter. If you make 700, perhaps if you did a bit more you'd get the hang of it! I will not apologise if I have slightly higher expectations than most your customers. I would have made my own, but sadly, as a busy spine surgeon, I often do not have the time to cook, but lucky for you, as a "burger connoisseur", I feel compelled to educate you, and have found a few minutes between cases to write this. You, being in the hospitality/culinary business, failing to understand the no. 1 rule, that the guest is always right, and responding to my review with sarcasm, verging on rudeness, reflects the quality of your business. If you cannot take critique or expect a 5* review with every order, then I suggest you go offline. Btw, you still haven't apologised for the...
Read moreWe came here for our engagement party.. we had a lovely night as we don’t always get both families and friends together however we did not have a great experience for the amount of money we paid. Over £700 for a buffet that no one could tell us what was gluten free and what wasn’t when we had requested it weeks before hand. Buffet did look good but wasn’t great food. Some sandwiches literally only had a few leaves in!! Members of the public from the other side of the bar (not from our party) sneaking round and taking food. Very unfriendly staff who didn’t even introduce themselves to us the whole night! When I emailed the manger who was the one who had booked it all with us didn’t really seem to be bothered, apologised but nothing else was done really, she said that her supervisor who was at our party, it was her first time overlooking an event, which is silly really considering we had this planned for a while and paid so much money, couldn’t even tell you which member was the supervisor. The other side of the bar was prioritised, yes it was busy but when you pay that much money for an event you don’t expect to be waiting 5-10 minutes to be served. Would never normally write a review of any kind but definitely do not recommend having an event here! Is a shame really because we do...
Read moreI don't know if my friends and I caught this place on an off day, but we went in on Sunday just past.
It was busy inside when we arrived but the garden was empty so we sat outside
Both my friends ordered roasts - one beetroot wellington, one beef and I ordered a burger...
Sadly I don't have anything very positive to say. We ordered everything at the same time and my friends' roasts came at the same time, but 10 minutes later I was still waiting on my burger and had to chase it up
My friend with the veg roast was delivered her food and told they'd bring out the gravy, 10 minutes later it also had not arrived.
The beef roast had roast potatoes that were uncooked in the middle, very soggy grey leeks and grey beef with huge amounts of fat on it, leaving little actual meat
The burger was average with a tiny token bit of warm coleslaw on the side, which I could've handled, but the £17 pricetag felt unjustifiable
We had to chase up about the late food and uncooked food etc and staff were civil about it but I wouldn't say particularly apologetic.
All in all a pretty disappointing experience where the cost of food was not in the least bit justified. Hopefully we just caught them on a bad day, and this doesn't reflect their usual efforts, but I definitely will not be rushing...
