An ok experience if you donât mind being shouted at like a naughty kid in primary school. Disappointed with our visit today. We are local and come up fairly often to walk our dog around the tower. Greeted with an unpleasant welcome in the cafe when we entered and it was pretty busy, so we thought we would look at the seating upstairs. I scanned my eyes for âno dogâ signs before walking upstairs - nothing to note, so picked up my tiny dog and proceeded. Got about half way up when I heard âEXCUSE ME, EXCUSE ME, NO DOGS UPSTAIRS!!!â half the cafe customers were then looking at me like I was an alien from out of space. Pretty uncomfortable considering we were just popping in for a quick lunch. Itâs a shame to be treated like a tourist who will never visit again when we are local paying customers who come here and keep these sorts of places going in the quiet months. Probably wonât come back again and if we do we will go to the little cafe in the other building where staff are much friendlier. I think you could definitely work on your approach & perhaps consider putting a clear sign that says no dogs upstairs so that future customers donât get shouted at. The food is tasty but is it worth it to be shouted and and feel uncomfortable?...
Read moreMy review takes the form of a question: Whatâs the similarity between tea for one and a cake at Morris & Brownie and a tea, a Cappuccino, a bacon roll, a bacon baguette and a cake at Greggs (the day after I visited Morris & Brownie)? The answer, in case you need help, is of course that they cost the same amount. As for differences, as a Yorkshire Tea drinker, my subjective opinion is that the tea at Greggs has a better strength and depth of flavour. The two members of staff at Greggs also managed to serve me within a couple of minutes, whereas the four(?) members of staff at Morris & Brownie took almost 15 minutes to bring over my tea (it was about 11:00 a.m. and there was no obvious queue). In short Morris & Brownie is OK, but seems expensive and unremarkable other than for the view, which rather depends on the weather, which is free anyway. I was walking through so I was glad of a sit down, but next time Iâll...
Read moreI gave it 2 stars based on the poor Covid-19 precautions. As it was a nice day we sat outside. We noticed all the tables had bits of food on them as they weren't being wiped down & due to the season we were soon surrounded by wasps crawling over the leftovers. When our hot food was ready they called our number & my friend had to go in the exit to get it. Defeats the one way system. They didn't take our contact details & we queued for about 15 minutes inside to place our order. When we went to the bin to put our rubbish in the bin was over flowing & rubbish was spilling out. We didn't feel safe there & definitely won't be going back. You also pay £3 to park which is quite dear when you're going to visit the cafe & have lunch. There are better places to go to with good Covid-19 measures in place. I've been before as the food is nice but it is over priced especially if you factor in...
